This is probably a rehash of an old subject.

Last night a fellow told me that he uses Autopilot to pull out of steep dives when blacked out. I know, I know you guys dont want to hear about Air Warrior, but that was a much harsher blackout model and we never had that option.

Is this a common use of autopilot and am I missing a trick by not using it as a crutch ?

Well, gotta say I sure would miss the auto pilot for beer runs while climbing to target.

Maybe it shouldn't engage above a certain G load.

Maybe you shouldn't worry about how someone else flies THEIR plane for their $15.00 a month. Sheesh, just kill them if they are enemy. Why try to tell others how to play?? I'm sure you wouldn't like it if they told YOU how to play.  :rolleyes:

Final note on this, borrowed from other threads.  :p

If it is in the game it must be allowed. Think of it as a "feature". Kind of like flying off the map and hiding fleets.   :p

I've always been anti-autotrim being enabled during a black out, red out or when wounded.

Krusher the game is obviously perfect.  I hear HTC have put Ubisoft and Microsoft out of business and the whole staff are buying personal private jets.  Making any changes to the game could threaten their total domination of the computer game industry.  How dare you suggest an improvement?

And tsk tsk for worrying about how others play.  I mean one time when I was playing basketball I kept picking up the ball and running with it.  And some butthead on the other team said I couldn't do it!  Man the nerve of him to tell me how I should play!

It's the oldest trick going in a compression dive, Krush.

Hit alt-X and hope the wings stay on.

In the same way, if you're pilot wounded, line up on the runway, wheels and flaps down;  very small ROC and set speed to 120, hit alt X and kill the engine when you hear the wheels touch and you're 99% sure of a successfull, blacked out landing.

ouch, wouldn't auto-level rip the wings off in most compression dives?  In a TOD, I ripped the wings off of a Ta152 in a dive just by trying to regain with slow up on the elevator trim.  The auto level would have been a much more violent approach.

Autopilot is necessary for grabbing a beer, or going AFK for a qucik diaper change.  I woould not want to see it removed....

Ive never ripped my wings off with manual trim when pulling out of a compressed dive. Not even in my glass winged hellcat. Sure ya wasnt yankin up on your pitch?   :)

I would also hate to see auto pilot removed, but under some circumstances it should not be able to be activated.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Well I know this may be better served being asked elsewhere but since its been brought up:  What does actually happen to your flying ability if you have a "pilot-wounded"?
Is there any real affect or is it just for ambience?  "Gee sir I seem to be bleeding profusely onto the floorboards.  Wonder what it'll look like if I do a barrel roll now with 12 pints of blood sloshing around my feet?"  :D

Everytime I get that the rest of my poor bird is fairly torn up as well so I am unsure what effects there are for wounding the pilot.  :)
