WOW These are all great picks, and I agree with them all (with a few exceptions-just a matter of taste). Diablo when you ask a question like this I agree you have to consider AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, and many others. But when you say-you put it on and automatically "crank it up" I gotta say dam near anything by ZZ Top, but one I have listed as one of my favorites is Def Leppard-Pyromania.

But then again what about Aerosmith, Bad Company, 38 Special, and Gary Moore-(blues-but close enough to rock for me)?

You know when I was a youngster you could not go to any party without hearing "Frampton Comes Alive".

He never did follow it up with anything decent but that album was like a bible for the mid seventies kids who were not into disco.

Just watched VH1's "Ultimate Albums" in which they showcased AC/DC's "Back In Black".  Guess what?  It's in the CD player again...up VERY loud!!

I like "The Wall" a lot more myself.
