Kinda caught my eye in the store today. Is it any good or not really worth it?

I tested it for awhile - very pretty and great scope - but I couldnt figure it out to save my life - might be easier with a manual.

It looks beautiful and the premise is a good one but it's boring as all hell.  I did the beta and quit a few days before it went pay-to-play.  What it turned out to be wass not my cup of tea.

Captaining a ship from external chase view guiding it thru the universe with a basic mouse gesture got old on day one.  And the space combat is no better. You point your mouse and click on the screen to indicate the direction you want your ship to maneuver and the guns are auto-fire. Nothing for you to aim, arm or shoot. The winner is typcially whoever has the best gear or whoever can get a group of players to gang bang someone.
And the different races and thier sovereign territories mean squat as you can travel to and fro with impugnity.
Can't land on planets. No person-person interaction.  The core of the game is flying about space, mining different asteroid ores in order to buy better ships, equipment, skills and abilites. In effect it's a mining sim with space ships and stuff tossed in for flavour.

I was in the beta too.  Bugged to hell right up until launch.  It's a space mining sim with chat.  It's beautiful, but gets old REALLY fast.

Thanks for the input guys. Based on the info I think I'll play  Darkspace for now. Not as much eye candy but alot more skill involved in combat. Plus you can build up and govern planets.

I was at Best Buy today and they dropped the price of Eve Online to 19.99.  They didn't even have a copy of BF1942. :(

Two whole shelves of boxes of Star Wars Galaxies.  Seems people heeded other's advice.

While it does have its many flaws, I think SWG in general is a great game with more potential than the DEVS realize.  Its not too bad, its pretty, and fun too.

Good story line.
Great graphics.
Point and Click.

I, personally, hate point and click games.

While visually stunning, the gameplay is lacking, and it's just chock full of bugs and downright design flaws.
