Will it have trackIR support?
« Reply #15 on: August 12, 2003, 08:17:40 AM »
I just went ahead and sent an e-mail to the TrackIR people, asking them to approach the AH team with info on how to implement TIR support in AH.
They would be smart to do so.
If the absolute/enhanced mode would debut in AH, people would soon feel compelled to invest in TIR.

I don't think a little civilized e-mail campaign would hurt; just tell both the AH and the TIR gang how both sides would benefit from it.

Well it doesn't really work that well with AH as of now. Meaning it's actually crap with current mouselook in AH.

Which is a bit of a pity because i can remember at least one version of AH where it was great in mouselook, ultrafast snappy yet smooth.

Usually, installing trackIR and setting it up is a breeze, but if problems should arise i'd suggest visit the Naturalpoint site and post the exact problem and system specs. The guys over there might be able to help.

It's a bit of a waste to let it go unused, especially If you've never tried it, you can't imagine what you're missing.

Oh great, now we can look forward to the carpel neck syndrome.  Or more real life accidents in reverse since our heads eventually will no longer twist that far.

Actually, definitely looks intriguing.  Hard to improve on Aces High viewing, but if anyone can do it, HiTech and crew can.

I just tore myself away from AH to fly IL-2 FB with TIR.
Man it's just toooo sweet!
I'm getting borderline manic just fantasizing about TIR support being built into AH.

(Ok- so i got carried away, but you all caught my drift, yes?)

Yep, he's done all that, but it seems nobody has any clue - something in his system it doesn't like.  Last resort is a fresh complete reinstall of Windows, but he is loathe to do that at the moment with all the information he has in his current setup.

Actually, I believe the views can be set so that you only need to turn your head very slightly, so that shouldn't be a problem.  ;)

Well for one, with VR helmets, you might not be able to see the keyboard.
Which btw may not be a problem for those with a true hands off keyboard capability. But typing (chat) may be problematic.

And it is still very expensive. TrackIR in its simplicity, already accomplishes an incredibly immersive feeling without the ultra high costs.
