tried buying ww2online

well i heard that service and support were pretty awful over in ratville but it seems their entire logistical support mechanism is nonexistant at the retail level. I called the local stores like compusa best buy electronics botique etc and no one even carries the box game anymore (which retails at 9.99 or somthing).
so i have to order it online or buy a download (yeah right) of it and then pay the monthly subscribtion.

does anyone here play ww2ol regularly? is it worth all this hassle just to play this sim?
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

I play regularly.  Just pay for the activation key, no need to buy it in the store.  Plus they do a 7-day free trial thing to even see if you like it.  It's not like AH, different type of game really.

Try the 7 day to see if you like it first.  That way your not out any cash if its not your thing.

You can go here: http://www5.playnet.com/bv/wwiiol/retailers.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0998528528.1060551469@@@@&BV_EngineID=eadcichfmhfdbjjcgmcggichhl.0 and get it online.

You may find one on e-bay.

If you want some evidence of their customer support visit my post "ww2ol revisited (sos) on this bbs.

You might also  want to go here: http://www5.playnet.com/bv/wwiiolhq/dg_threads.jsp?group_id=8863&BV_SessionID=@@@@0998528528.1060551469@@@@&BV_EngineID=eadcichfmhfdbjjcgmcggichhl.0 and read what those who currently play think.

Who knows, you may think it's the greatest thing since microwave popcorn. Only way to find out is to take the plunge and find out for yourself.;)

Btw, if you're using a usb Saitek X-45 j/s and throttle, and usb CH Pro rudder pedals, with Win XP OS,...

...good luck:(

Yes, maybe, I joined it for the ground war. I avoided flying as it gave me bad habits (109E/F could outturn a Hurricane at low speeds). The FM has had a facelift and is getting there - although it has glaring holes in the flying side of things (no structural damage model is the biggie).

Its no AH, but I do like the historical matchup (cept for Hurricane II's in early '41), I like the visibility which allows bouncing, and you to get out of tight situations (those ugly icons 'fade in' as you look towards an area of sky over time). And you have to get real close and personal to make kills. I probably spend 90% of my time there on the ground though.

Unfortunately the 7 day freebie is not enough to figure out if you like it. You need to spend a month before you get to the yay or nay stage.

If you do try it, get into a decent squad quickly, makes gameplay much much more enjoyable - and the support is better from within the squad.

I'll keep playing it, probably til AH2 hits us. Right now the MA is to much rinse repeat for me. I think I'm wanting more historical matchups and such (roll on AH2 ToD).
