Terrain is the problem?

I do not know what everyone thinks about the current terrain but IMO The terrain is extremely boring and a new one, or even the old one would be appreciated in the MA. Who agrees?

Yep, the current terrain is good... but a change would always be appreciated.  No doubt things will change with 1.05 when the ships arrive.  Perhaps they'll have large rivers etc... I hope!  Be good to have a desert area too.

IMHO I think this would help.  Maybe a new terrain every tour.  HTC could draw from the vast pool of talent in their customer base for this.  With every new map the strategy changes.  The strategic center of gravity shifts.  The attack patterns migrate.  This would go a long way to keeping the simulation fresh and interesting.  By accepting submissions from the customer base, HTC limits the additional resources it needs to accomplish this.  THC could specify certain requirements and style guides, and they would be final judges to maintain quility.  I think that the community would be more than willing to accept the extra download size for a new terrain every tour.

There are two very important things we need to really make this work.

1.  We need to have real shore lines.  I've seen some very nice screen shots of user terrains like Norway and such, but the effect is totally ruined by the lack of shoreline.

2.  Users need to be able to work with their own custom textures if desired.  Or at least be able to modify a few of the existing ones.  This is vital if the new terrain are to look "new" rather than merely rearranged.

AH is fine the way it is.  This would just be icing.

We're going to start alternating terrains each tour.  We'll go back to the beta terrain at the start of the month.

Excellent!

Nash, you can try the revised beta terrain offline. Just press "terrain" from the clipboard.

Wonder where the V fields will be?
Will there be a spawn point to take a dent out of the mountain ranges.
