Not to nitpick, but isn't the Exocet an ASM?

Can you imagine being one of the passengers near the front. Seeing the entire nose gone nothing but sky in front of you. Knowing death was just a matter of moments away.

I'm not entirely sure but I "think" TWA800 was outside the range of your standard IR MANPAD.

As a former "stinger" specialist... I have serious serious doubts TWA800 was brought down by any MANPAD.

You dont have to be aerodynamic to climb, muck...you are loosing the point he and I are illustrating. Take a heavy plane in a climb, something explodes and sheds the nose...it doesnt matter how smooth or blunt it is, if the weight is now off balance, up she goes.
im no physics guy but would the nose go up instead of down because of center of gravity? missle? we have no place to hid them and no fighter from anywhere would come out to kill a jet US maybe if terrorist was on it but the us government would have told us about that . btw what version of 747 was it 747-100 etc.

ummm "our current administration" was not in office then... the one that didnt act to try and prevent future actions by terrorist groups was in office.
I don't know what to put here yet.

oh yeah, that's right, not the current one, which ignored the warnings about Al-Qaeda becuase they were convinced the Clintons ignored the real problem, which was Iraq.

But I suppose you're right, as much as I didn't like what the previous administration was up to, they weren't nearly as efficient in using mass fear to their advantage.

anyway, back to the topic:

It was a 747-200, which TWA got from Tower Air.

yes i thought it was fitting.  Maybe you can watch the movie. The individuals involved dont seem to crazy since they were leads on the investigation.

Since it's been brought up, if you have Epix this is very much worth watching.
