Poll - Rate your AH experience

Time for a poll:

Has the game gone stagnant for you?
===========================
1) I enjoy playing AH more/less/same in the last 6 months.

Has the community become user unfriendly?
===============================
2) I enjoy the AH community more/less/same in the last 6 months.

My answers:
1) less
2) less

comment:  2 things have set me to thinking.  First was a trip the the dueling arena with SFOX which reminded me of how long its been since I had a real fight vs "whatever is happening in the main" and the depature of ammo.  The only things that keep me coming back to AH is the friends of I have in the Flying Zoo and my memory of how much fun I used to have.

I am frankly tired of the horde mentality in the main arena.  There are no real fights any more, just a few passes and 10 others will jump in to make the kill.  There is no longer the opportunity to really fight someone or even learn to fight.  The horde swamps everything.

I miss the ability to pit the  strengths of one plane against another.  I miss the ability to pit my skill against another.

Hehe... my humility requires that I go to the MA. I've had my bellybutton handed to me on numerous occasions while participating on the ladder.

I am a talentless score-whoring slug.

Oh... the answer...

1.) No change. Six months ago (or so), the Flying Zoo made AH fun again. Still... we occasionally find ourselves in the same horde mentality. I really like flying against disciplined groups like the 56th. They are top notch.

2.) Less. Unless I turn off Channel 1. Tired of the whines about HO, TNBvBNZ, gaming the game, and the new thing... politics. Of course... it's also great fun to read channel 1 whenever someone on staff shows up and is forced to answer questions about everything from china patterns to the solution for global warming and world peace.

My experience in "flight simming" goes back to AWDOS (very limited) then AW on AOL (from very beginning). I only flew WB's briefly in 97 or 98. I stayed with AW thru 1999 and Moss told me about the AH beta at the AW con in 1999. All that being said:

The game has a whole has slowly faded and lost its appeal. The high point for me was 1.3....once 1.4 came out with the EZ mode FM things went a bit south and have continued since. My viewpoint is obviously based on my roots in AW (where gunnery model forced ACM) and experience early in this game (beta & 1st 6 months) where I felt like a newbie again. Easily the highest quality ACM (and toughest FM) I ever encountered. Slowly and sadly most of the quality sticks have faded away. Less than 10% of the current roster has any real ACM talent at all (IMO). In many ways this reflects the reality of WW2. Team work and #'s counted for a lot more than individual skill. Had I grown up in a different flight sim enviornment my expectations might be different.

At this point I'm simply making do...till the next flight sim shows up.

I have been on a break to pursue other games for a while, I do it once a year to keep interest in games I play for a long time (WB, AH, GPL).

1. Same. I get a kick out of it now. Just as much as when I started , if not more so.
2. Friendly? Hmmmm, didn`t know it was supposed to be. I figure if you can do something that results in numerous top ranked whines then my work here is done.:cool:

Ooops, my two cents:

1. no change

2. no change

I still enjoy AH. Like others, can't wait to see what AH2 brings. The future looks good.

Ways I would fix it:
1: End the BBS, let the player community start there own ***** session BBS. Also freesup staff for real problems.. Letem go to Bigweek if they want...
2. Kill range channel, go back to Squad channel only, or private channel. To much negative happens on range.
3. Limit arenas to 250 and offer more arenas.
4. Give back the old pre pod bomber sites, yeah its cheesey but fun! And thats the key "Fun" taking out a field in one pass!!
  Thats what we log in for Fun!!

Same - Took a few months off, came back and the game is fresh again.  The MA is different, it's bigger with a lot more people, but I can still find plenty of fights.  1 on 1 fights are no more rare for me now then they were "back in the day".

Same - Different tards, same whines.  HO/Running/Gangbanging/Vulching/Cheating/Warping/Whatever Dweeb whines were always here and still are.  Since the population explosion Ch 1 seems to be a lot busier, but still not so bad that you can't read it.  Implimenting the new kill msgs was a great idea, even if I still like the old style better...the new just makes a lot more sense with the larger #s flying.

Looking forward to AH2, whether I decide to stick in the MA or fly in the new arena.
