Agreed!! It's time to begin Operation S.T.F.U.

This morning he's whining about his 56K dial-up being the reason he gets killed so much. His rank of 3,014th has nothing to do with it I guess <G>

Did you miss the part about NPR actually interviewing passengers on this flight?  The entire gist of the NPR report 1 1/2 months ago about this was that, surprisingly, it was for real.  And they had a number of passengers from the flight corroborate it.

However, you're right about ever-shifting details on the Internet.  It's as if the Internet is the worst "through the grapevine" form of communications out there.  You can send one e-mail asking someone to buy some milk at the store on the way home from work, and somewhere, 1500 people down the line, it becomes a story of a suspected case of mad cow disease.

This one's for real though.

If a pilot did make that speech, he would have been sanctioned and poissibly sacked.

FlyingDuck, tell me how many planes have you flown on since Sept. 11th? Well I for one have probably been on over 20 different planes since that time. From 9/14-22 I personnally was on 12 different planes. I am not argueing whether this story is true or not, but on a few flights I have been on the pilot has spoken & given instruction as to how the passengers can assist incase an incident arises. Now 200+ people on a plane during that period I find hard to believe. It was spooky how vacant all my flights were & how empty the airports were. But your statement that about pilots note giving any sort of special speeches or comments is Dead Wrong.

Anyway, about the reason of this post, ignore the guy & squelch him & he will go away quicker probably.

This is in line with that pissant Orel's "Silly Americans" post on 9/11. That jerk hasn't been hunted down, so why start here. Maybe because Orel is such a good stick - he is allowed to get away with it.

At least his squad dumped him....

Wow, you found a typo texter. That must mean I'm totally ignorant, you're right.

Well, let's see. Considering you don't realize that "texter" should be "Texter", if I was you, I would hide myself behind something.

Also, may I add, that I come from the land of Dickens whereas you come from the land of Dixie. My favourite authors are Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Tom Clancy.

To presume someone is dumb just by one typo is pathetic.

Greetings

Personally I must say i've been having a marvellous time reading FlyingDucks enormously entertaining posts.

I see nothing wrong with reassuring ones passengers and instilling in them the feeling of control over their aircraft and its destination.

In a similiar case in Australia last week:

A passenger jet minutes after takeoff loses its port engine, passengers see sparks and hear a loud bang.

Pilot in Command:  "Ladies and Gentleman, we have experienced catastrophic engine failure"

I didn't assume. You proved it. And again, you have proved it. Also, I don't recall saying squat about typos. Are you really that clueless? Guess so. Let me try and explain. No, let me summarize. Reread the links and info posted with the idea that you're wrong and some folks actually know more than you. wow. tough huh?

btw-why lecture me on how to spell a nonexistent word? oh, another case of missing the point, my bad.

Also, you'll have a problem if you go down the "Texans are all stupid" path though I doubt you'll realize that either till it's way too late.

You said that, not me.  ;)

That there is one darn nasty inferiority complex you have, boy.

The only Texan I ever saw was at a London airport. I noticed he was Texan cos he was chasing his 10 gallon hat down the car park ramp.
It gets quite windy over here.  :D

Personaly, I don't agree.
I have a great deal of sorrow and respect for those lives that were lost that day, but I also hold some contempt that only 1 of the 4 planes missed it's target.
I am extremely proud of the men and women who stood up for themselves over Penn.

On the 2nd aircraft that hit the WTC, there was a woman who was talking on a cell phone. In an interview with the relation to whom she was speaking for 3 minutes prior to the 2nd crash, it was revealed that she conveyed the knowlege of the first crash and knew that she was going to suffer the same fate.
She feared the knives and believed that they had bombs.

I think it wrong for anyone to call any of them rutabagas! PERIOD
But, lets cut the guy some slack.  We all have our own opinions and feelings.  Better to teach him respect than to shun him for having a heart.
This ability is what makes us, Americans, GREAT.

Viper

Huh?
Let me guess, lets put this in perspective.  When I got deployed while in the USAF, we were supposed to teach Iraq soldiers kindness and gentleness thru the ultimate belief that teaching them respect was the best way?  Yes we do have our own opinions but some just do not know when to shut up.  Speaking from the heart is not how you deal with certain individuals they will take it and laugh even more.  I had 2 friends end up in the hospital at the Pentagon because of this and for that I am thankful.  Social culturing will not help him.  I think a good stake roast in the valley would though.

I hope Deus01 didn't come across in the boat with the rest of us AW'ers.  I tried to help this twit out with a question only to get caught up in one if his tantrums.

Don't judge us AW'er by this ass.  Sure, we smell and like to raid the sheep pen but we do try to draw the line at such overt dweebism.

The pilot really did make the speech and was then punished for his words by whatever airline he flew for.

If a pilot did make that speech, he would have been sanctioned and poissibly sacked. Also I found some things which don't add up.

1)In the "story" the person says the airport was completely empty, yet then says the plane was full to capacity with over 200 people. Hmmm
2)I think the pilot would have known that they have placed air marshals on all internal US flights. So saying "we are alone once those dors are shut" is rubbish anyway.
3)Pilots are expressly forbidden to say things which could cause panic or distress to the passengers. Mentioning a bomb and saying "If you have a bomb, there is no need to tell me about it, or anyone else on this plane; you are already in control..." is just ridiculous. NO pilot would ever say something like that. You can imagine some people would panic if he did.

Nice story though. But that's all it is...a story
