Was just wondering if AH2 skins will be able to be edited with Photoshop? Or will there be another program associated with this.

I need to know so I can start getting my RLM numbers / colours together for a few GE planes :)

I'm almost positive that you will still need Photoshop.  The information you would need would probably be in this thread... http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91369

Pretty much any graphic editor will work since the files you'll be editing are .bmp files.

What would be really cool is if someone makes a skinning tutorial on how to modify or create new plane skins.

skins used online in arenas cannot be edited
they will have special secured format

how ever i supose HTC will publish unsecured bitmaps to give people chance make his own skins and use offline (im not sure about H2H)
published skins can be used as example "how to correct fit skin"

after som time im sure will be many free skins and templates for them, like for il2/fb

Of course bitmaps can be edited by any bitmap editor working with 256 color scale (indexed)

You're correct that you can't edit the online skins because they're compiled into a different format.  You can however edit the offline skins, which will be in .bmp format and submit those to HTC for their review and if it meets their standards can become one of the selectable online skins.

Another thought.....

Before I start getting to deep into editing some skins in the terrain editor, does anyone know if the standard 256x256 8 bit depth
bitmap will change...say into a 16 or 24 bit depth bitmap for a little higher resolution????

Just curious since the graphics will be changing with AH2.

about resolution ;)

we all like to know that ;)  first shot of wing looks like 512x512 (or better)
Hard to say now it will be still couple bitmaps or one like in IL2/fb

color deph will be same (256 indexed) 16 or 24k is waste of resources

Was messing around with skins in the terrain editor -190d9 specifically, and I am having a quesion about this:

On the 190d9 256x256 Bitmap, there is a skin for the lower wing area and skins for the left / right side of the fuselage. I was working on some panels lines / hatch / access areas. When I finished roughing in some stuff, i tested it off-line. Here I found out that the 3d model is skinned on the left and right with ONLY the Left Side of the fuselage skin that is on the bitmap. I looked at the original stock skinned 190, and  here the left and right sides of the 3d model are skinned with only the left elevation of the fuselage, Basically a mirror image of the left side off the original birmap.

I guess it works for some planes, but the left side of the 190 had a large fueling access hatch on the aft fuselage, and there is none on the right.

Any ideas on why the bitmap would have both left / right sides skiined, but only left used on 3d model????????????????

Hope you got fast conection, theres 4 of em zipped.

Panel lines about 85% done, just a few minor touch ups.

Also designed some new wheels for the 190d9, but cant do anything about the tires....lol

Fuse is in base coat of RLM76a with Wing top started in basecoat RLM 75 mittelgrau

Will be adding paint soon and toning down panellines and weathering abit. Will be a very late model 190d9. Some surfaces will be bare metal - ie wing leading edge, ect.....not to many resources left late war, they were sending planes out without primer / paint....lol
