I've been looking longingly at the Jug for a while now. Problem is it climbs slow and im an impatient fellow. I'd love a p47M/N.

btw has anyone noticed any difference at all between the d25 and d30? Seems to me like climb and speed is exactly the same.

I just checked my score, p47 against every other plane.
Seams i have the upper edge. With a Huge edge over Spit IX's and Chogs ( surprized me)

With the exception of

A5's
b-17's
with Oswinds taking the lead

I think the Wep is porked on the D30. It gives me 5 MPH speed increase at 5K, instead of 15 MPH like HTC chart says.
This 300 HP increase "Wep on" on the D30 looks not effective.
I think you feel the difference in dogfight, and that's why people went away from this plane as a fighter. but that's an another discussion from the "plane and vehicle".

One would think from their record in combat that the P-47 would do very well in AH. Supposedly it could corkscrew outclimb anything with that big radial powerplant. It could also outdive anything. It's low level performance was just as good as high level with that two stage blower. Robert Johnson said the reason that P-51 pilots did so well was because all the Jug drivers killed or wounded the best LW pilots before the P-51 got into service, of course, he was biased. But he could have a point.....something to think about anyway.

Maybe it will get better somehow. It got pretty bad for the 109 in new FM and so I flew some "other" -shameful- planes for a while. But I recently got back to the 109 and it seems I can do ok in it if I really stick to its strengths. Might work out fer u too, but ill agree I havent seen 1/20th the 47s since 104 came out.

That's because the D-25 and D-30 in Aces High DO perform exactly the same. Seems there's a bug and they have the exact same FM.

Admittingly I havent flown it much in a while but---

tour 7
ammo has 117 kills and has been killed 54 times in the P-47-D30.

ammo has 26 kills and has been killed 8 times in the P-47-D25.

tour 8
ammo has 3 kills and has been killed 0 times in the P-47-D25.

ammo has 42 kills and has been killed 20 times in the P-47-D30.

and then, I it went to pot---

tour 9
ammo has 3 kills and has been killed 3 times in the P-47-D30.

I used to be a wannabe 38 driver ... I really wanted to learn to drive my fav ride here in AH, but then I gave the 47 a try and haven't looked back. I may not be that good but the 47 is a sweeeet ride!
