simply because there is action in the small maps. the big maps are bigger sure 4 times bigger.

but that also creates 4 times less action with the front stretched out badly.

small maps good large maps bad!

and add to that its so hard to navigate 512x512 maps on clipboard is big jumbled mess unless zoomed in. blah
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Now, now Kids. Beet1e will be along shortly to explain to you why small maps are "children's maps".

So be good children until he gets here, ok?

Fun is bad. Remember that. Fun = the DARK SIDE!

This game isn't about fun. Remember that too.

And my argument here, Fester..

On smaller maps, numbers matter more, because 2 sides are fighting between 1 or 2 fields. The numbers are forced to go there, so the side with more numbers always starts steamrolling. SO furballs last a shorter period of time before the dweebs arrive..

On larger maps, the numbers can be spread out more so the steamroller doesnt get started as easily. Furballs don't become any less prevalant, because players arent distributed evenly between all fields. If there's decent darbar in the area, the 'furballers' are gonna be attracted to it, so a furball starts.. with the extra distance between fields they furball happens between fields and not over them, so hey don't get porked as easily and in turn the furballs last longer, while the 'strat' players can get together on another part of the map and take bases, rather than making both play for and between the same 2 fields. Also, with the extra fields any steamroller that may occurr can be thwarted before they have a major impact. Trinity gets steamrolled because the bottom gets ganged, and pizza gets steamrolled because there are too damn many fields...

SO, to sum this up..

Small maps = less fields = less buffer = more steamroller = less furballs.

Large maps = more fields = more buffer = less steamroller = more furballs and more VARIETY!

But Mr. Toad!  You are deviating from your erstwhile handling of the situation when someone makes a purely subjective statement. Your stock answer, and the one you should have given to citabria, is...

I much prefer the smaller maps, but on the other hand I don't get play US prime time much: Australia "prime-time" is usually less than 100 people and with those numbers the big maps seem pretty empty.

That being said I think the big maps are just too big right now: there are just too many bases along the front which leads to milk-running and fuel porking. A couple of years ago we didn't have as many fuel porking complaints: not beacuse people didn't do it but because in order to do it they had to face some kind of defence. Now even a field that has a lot of defenders can have it's fuel porked pretty easily: you just fly acorss the from where no-one is defending and come in from the rear.

Cit offers an opinion. Your remark is a canard.

My oft-quoted remark would of course not apply to Cit's opinion but fits well with your canard.

Well of course it would. It is clear that Cit's statement is subjective (ie absolutist) given that Rutilant and myself do not concur.

But since you mentioned canard, please feel free to "duck" the issue. :D

On the children's maps you can find Mr. Toad's variety of freedom - the kiddie pie throwing contest of suicide fuel porkage, suicide CV killing, ganging hordes, steamrollers and other assorted dweebery. Enjoy it while you can. Pizza will be served shortly*

Note that Cit does not attack or denigrate the "big maps" as you find it necessary to do with the smaller maps. A sign of his maturity. :D

And you'll see the exact same behaviors on the bigger maps, like Pizza. It isn't dependent upon which map is up. You make "winning the war" the ultimate goal, this is what you get. Enjoy "winning" Beet.

I'll just be "fighting". If it's AKDesert though, I'll probably be in the DA or CT. What is the CT running next?

Their PAC stuff is usually good.

CT is is Zeke and Wildcats. Good potential here. Looks like a possible problem with the bombers being too good for the fighters but the potential for some great action is there. Definitely will be checking this on out. I love the gray vs blue airplane setup. They could even turn icons off for this one. Doesn't look like Desert Doomed to me. Could be a fun week.

:D

The big maps *may* be too big for some people in some timezones, but the small maps are too small for any team on the receiving end of that particular nights gangbang.  There are people firmly entrenched in the camps at both extremes of this fortunately (and rightly so) HTC has not been catering to either.

I think you're wrong. The porkers don't have the patience to deploy their tactics on the larger maps like Pizza. Besides, the pizza map provides the best GV battles, sometimes GV combined with aircraft battles. Like Rutilant said - Variety.

Cit is entitled to his opinion, but it should have been presented as an opinion rather than a statement of fact. Hell, I'd prefer small maps if I wanted to cherrypick my way around the map in a 262.

I gotta agree on the small maps.I think if they were twice the size it would be a bit better gameplay.Right now a full arena is just nuts on the smaller maps.
The Flying Circus. Were just like you.Only prettier.

Thanks, Beet.

Forgot about the GV's.

Looks like it will be the DA and CT for me this week. :D

You enjoy AKDesert now; and try to ignore the suicide fuel porkage, suicide CV killing, ganging hordes, steamrollers and other assorted dweebery that will be there just as it is on every other MA map. Just pretend it isn't happening and go Win That War!!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaahh!
