FPS Glitch
« on: August 22, 2003, 06:38:54 PM »
Recently installed ati's latest (that is the drivers release just prior to the relase I found there today)

Went bonkers????

When I checked my settings in the control panel it had created a mess.  Tried to set it to optimal and it created an extra monitor driver in the system device manager and then a ! error in that same place.  I deleted one of the 2 that was there.

Now my FPS has dropped from 35 to 45 all the way down to 2 to 3 frames per second!!! :mad:

Tried remove and reinstall etc.......

In the process of tryin to fix it the modem went to 14400 and stayed there.  Got the modem fixed but still have the FPS problem.

System specs

AMD 800
512 ram
MB = sd11
vid card = ati radeon 9000 pro 64 meg (agp)
SB512 sound card
Monitor = Mag innovision 986fs
kb = memorex mx3300 multimedia (ps/2)
Mouse = MS optical well (ps/2)
Modem = U.S. Robotics V.92 external (com port 1)

Thinkin I may have to format and reinstall everything??????

Got a email request into MS (DirectX 9.0b)

and ATI

Any one got any ideas or fix's???????????

Hmmm...

FPS problem seems fixed now.  Did all kinda stuff tryin to fix it.  Even formatted and installed everything all over again.

All that seemed to do was raise the FPS from 3 to 9 :(

So checked bios settings AGAIN!  Everything was fine :(  Somethin made me try Graphics Aperture Size.

Figures LOL  went from 128 to 256 and bingo!

Should have read the DirectX 9.0b info.  Don't recall ever seein anything about that before though.

Shows the 2nd monitor/tv as inactive in the ATI control center.

That is correct.  It's is not a problem.  Remember, ATI has the All-in-Wonder line with all the in/out stuff and most of the cards can handle dual monitors now.
