Deterrence? Probably not.  Or there wouldn't be so many pedophiles out there.  This creep wasn't the first pedophile to get killed in prison.

I don't know about any other country's penal system but as for the U.S., this murder doesn't surprise me at all.  I've done more than a little work in the area of prisons and prisoner law suits.  The one constant has been that within prisons cultures, there is NO tolerance for child molesters.  The other area of total intolerance is for traitors.  Seems that no matter what kind of scumbag they are, axe murderer, serial rapist, armed robber, drug dealer, etc etc, there are still some lines that can't be crossed.

And chances are it wasn't pretty either.  I know of one case where one prisoner was murdered by being gutted with the razor strips from a disposable BIC razor!

yep... I found that a lot of liberals are all into torture.  Personally.. I say there are some very sick people out there but I'm not into torture... I think some people just need to be put out of their misery.   Put em down like rabid dogs.   I have oftern heard liberals say that they wanted this or that criminal to go to a prison for life where he would probly be tortured every day.  That seems sick to me... just kill the poor bastard.

It's not where the deterence is needed.  It would be great if the deterance occurred that would make pedophiles less likely to persue a ministry.

I remember telling my wife during Geoghan's trial that all they needed to do was put him in jail and all of the problem' would be solved.  Looks to be the case.  When I ran that Mercedes repair shop I had one customer who was a famous record producer from the 50's, 60's and 70's.  In 1998 or so he was busted for child porn and sexual activities with minors.  When he was sent to jail I thought for sure he would get killed in there.  Then I heard in '01 or so that he was parolled.  Surprised the schnitzen out of me.  I wounder who's ***** he became to get protection while in there.

Just curious if you are anti-death penalty, because if you are, then its hipocratic to applause an attack resulting in death of a convicted prisoner.(Not *you* personally, Sandman, just a rhetorical statement to all those who are anti-death penalty)

Personally, I think that if one innocent man is executed, it's one too many. I'm perfectly okay with the death penalty but at the same time, it troubles me that the U.S. justice system is not without significant flaws.

If I'm a hypocrite because I dislike child molestors and the organization that enabled this sort of behavior, so be it.
