Ram Amount?
« on: August 25, 2003, 02:10:08 AM »
Is there a patch or program that allows w98 to access more then 512 ram?
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

Not really.  There may be some third party utilities, but 98 really does not have the memory management to handle a lot of ram.

In fact, most of the time when you get about 256MB 98 will start slowing down due to the arcane memory manangement.

Cacheman 5.11 works, 98 runs fine for me with 768MB of RAM.

I setup my vcache right after Windows installs for optimum performance, by default it is crap anyway... I never had any memory problems prior to installing cacheman, but I wanted better memory management than what Windows 98 comes standard with - so I went with cacheman. I get much better performance in applications (games) that use most, if not all, of the RAM than I do without cacheman.
