I'd been searching for some comp-tech type stuff when I realized I had to ask...

Skuzzy... have you ever forgotten anything computer related?  Like...ever? :D

Oh ya...

Why can't I alt tab in and out of the game?  I'm running the latest Nvidia Dets with a Ti-4600 128mg card (Leadtech). P42.4gz 512mg RDRam (PC800).  Nothing but SideWinder and clock running in the tray.

Now... I couldn't alt-tab in and out after I started using XP, then I could about 2 months ago (Like magic, I have no idea what I did), and now I can't again after a recent rebuild.  I'll get back into the game in that I can hear the sounds, and I have control of the plane, but nothing but a blue screen.

There've been way too many "variables" take place between being able to and not being able to for me to isolate what could be the magic trick.

If there's a short answer, I'd really appreciate it.  If not.. .oh well, I'll try and write it down IF I come across it again and share with ya'll.

Alt-tab is designed to switch to other programs - although a funky video when you tab back in is more than likely due to a video driver error.

Ctrl- Esc does the same thing, except it worked for me when alt-tab wasn't working. It'll bring up the start menu while minimizing the game window, clicking on the minimized program's window will bring it back up with the video working (hopefully).

I'll try that.  Thanks.  Finally found something on it in another thread.  Apparently, I'm supposed to set my desktop color depth to 16 if I run game in 32, or vice versa.  Gonna try that'n too soon as I get home from work.

I'll let ya'll know.

That advice is incorrect, desktop color should be the same color depth you use for the game.

If you are running AH in 32bit, desktop should be 32bit. If you run Operation Flashpoint (16bit colors), then your desktop should be 16 bit colors. It allows you to both tab to desktop and for optimum framerates.

The 45.23 drivers are flaky beyond belief, as are the 44.03 drivers.  I'd say all of the 4x series drivers are a little buggy, but I switched back to the 41.09s.  They seem stable enough and 2x AntiAliasing actually works.  The newer drivers of the 43, 44, and 45 series all seem to do nothing with 2x AA on.  The 41.09s are definately not flawless though, they have Anistropic filtering issues and are too old for GeForce FX series cards.

Alt tab seems to work ok most of the time at least.

Nothing but NOTHING worked until I went and grabbed the Leadtek drivers.

Life is good again.
