Different car questions
« on: August 26, 2003, 11:42:18 AM »
Ok, found myself another Mustang :).  It is a 90 LX 5.0 convertible, exterior is in great shape, runs like a dream, no leaks that I could find.

Now on to the fun stuff.

The car was seized as a drug car- the cops tore the interior up looking for drugs (lol).  The wipers (and whatever that little grill-thingie is they sit on) are gone, all the vents are gone, the radios gone, the panel for all the heating controls is popped out (but it aint gone at least :)).  Oh yea, and the passanger side door lock don't work, but that may just be because the car was sitting in an impound lot for 5 years and it rusted stuck.  That I think I can probably fix anyway if I can find a Chiltams manual for the car.

So, my question is (since I've never messed with em before).. how hard is it to get the vents back in?  Do I go to a junkyard and say "I need just the little vents that go in the dash" and somehow pop them in, or do I need to get a whole new dash?  I'm assuming the wipers can't be that difficult to get on, I can see the places the grill-thingie mounts to.

I have only done this on old 60s cars, and if you yank the front seats and lay under the dash it's is not that hard, lol...

I bet getting the parts from the junk yard won't be to hard either. This sounds way better then the last one.... lol.

Most junk yards these days want to sellyou the whole dash rather then just parts for it. Might want to call a few of em first.
