I've had the scope out for most of the last week. I'm hoping these clouds clear today for the closest view

I get up at 5:00 every morning to go run, been watching it for about a month, pretty damn cool. Hasn't rained here in about 2 months, so always great conditions to check it out. I can remember watching Halley's comet when it made it's last trip past, going to make sure my kids check this out.

not much with my little 3" refractor.

just color and shape mostly, I actually see much better detail on tv and the net, it's just somehow more interesting looking at it directly

Any telescope (that isn't a total pice of crap) should be able to see mars moons and such .... i find my best thrill seeing all tho's moons spinning around

Whats the big deal, its like what, 30,000 miles closer? Thats less than 1% closer than its total distance? (sigh--had I thought this was going to be a big deal I would have invested in Orion stock back in January)
