Top speed was redline limited, about 140. If you could get a Mini with that motor I probably wouldn't have a Subaru.

Out of curiousity, why would you need 140?  any track you'd take it to with some sort of car club would probably not permit 140 in the straight away...the max one can get at the Seattle International raceway track is about 120 before you need to brake for the corner.  Do you consistently cruise above 120 on the freeway or would it simply be a "braggin' rights" issue to have a car that goes that fast?

0-60 in 5.9 sec and 155 mph top speed keeps me happy...

...Dinan chip $200...takes the governer off  Thats the first thing I had done...

...And I can do 155 (see the above post) though I've never had it above 140

So you were questioning why I would discuss top speed, but the first thing you did on your car was to have the ECU modified to allow a greater top speed of 155 mph, and then spammed that figure all over this board?

Heheh Rip needs a chip to make his car go over 140 ....

Damn shame my car is drag limited on speed (@130). Or else it would do 140+ (Speed test on dyno 151mph) and I don't need no little chip thingie to make my car go faster :p

But other then a track enviroment where you might.. if your lucky to have a straight long enough to make it 150. I mean really, why would you have the need to go that fast other then bragging rights? Or is that just it. To brag?!?

Bah, What nonsense. I can do 165 to 170 regularly and never worry about a ticket. My Comanche doesn't need a road either.  ;)  :p

Love the M coupe engine, suspension, although the visuals are very appealing to me, but visual appeal is low priority.  I'd buy one but I need to be able to seat more than 2. Go for it!  I have a long funny story about a test drive in a friends M coupe I'll post some day. :)

Rip it's not about Subaru vs. BMW, just weird that you would give me crap about mentioning top speed when you are the one who's obsessed with it.  :)

(The 140 mph was regarding a Honda)

I find it odd that someone with such Pro American Republican beliefs would drive a foreign car. Rip, has GM become such a liberal organization you can't drive one? Or is it simply an ego boosting status symbol thing? Following your logic of choices why would anyone fly in a Boeing when there is Airbus?

Comparing Boeing to GM is an insult to Boeing.
Airbus' product is about on par with Boeing's.  I won't fly on one but in terms of performance/dollar they are pretty good.
BMW's product is so much better than GM it's not even funny.

Bavarian Motor Works.... yep that says All-American to me. Toyota and Honda have US factories, does that mean they are "American" as well?
