Because for some ridiculous reason the La-5 has an ENY of 40, and rack up perks very quickly. That and the La-5 seems to turn quite a bit better then the -7.

overall La5 has 325 kills of la-7 and has died 266 times...assuming I'm doing the search right.

If perks mattered I'd agree wholeheartedly with that statement. As it is now, if you need the performance of a Tempest, you up an La7 and kill whatever needs to be killed.

Been seeing alot more of spits then La7's these day's. Though that's probably due to the big maps and low gas range of the LaLa's.

La5 is a much better handling plane then the La7 imho and I prefer it over the La7. Spent some time in the La5 while back. Though falls short in the gun department.

Could never really take shots beyone D300 in the La5 without wasting alot of ammo or have a big hit in snapshots. Unlike it's 3 cannon big brother which seems to snap shoot things in half.

Of course the higher top speed dosn't seem much on paper but in performance makes quite a difference in acceleration etc.

Agree with Urchin, La7 is an unperked Tempest. Only thing it dosn't have is the drop tanks.

Finally decided the only way to beat the darn thing is to fly it a bit...easily the most porked FM in the game. Anyone who feels otherwise is delusional:)

I did fly it for about a week maybe a bit more...looked back over last few tours and almost no time in it.

Tour 40 was Jug(s) 170, la-7 83, nikki 16
Tour 41 was la-7 27 Jug 23...no kills in nikki

Guess I'm more of an la-7 dweeb than I thought

P-47 variants since their inclusion in the AH planeset.
F6F when I just wanna goof around some.
Lately, been flying the 109 variants (actually, flying them more since I found out how fun they can be when you're "forced" to use them in the CT to balance the sides), I prefer the G6, that G10 is almost as "easy mode" as a Runstang.......

P-51B if I am flying from field where the fuel is porked.......

I've settled on FM2 and F4U*, mostly for asthetic reasons (affinity for Naval AC) - but variety is the spice of life so venture out occasionally.

For me, at least, it wasn't until I stuck exclusively to one or two planes for several months that I got an real appreciation for flying at the edge of the flight envelope of any plane.

Anything, except Spit9, La-7, N1K2, Seafire and P-51D.

All terrific and fun planes, but doesn't exactly fill the needs for the ego

Been especially fascinated with the F4U-1 lately(a F4U-1A, atually, according to F4UDOA).. those birdcages have a very distinct aura of immersiveness

Ahhhh...those F4U's.....tricky devils they are! They seduce you and then, in an instant.....you are dead!

The F4U is a true fighter/bomber aircraft. They are not meant to turn and burn with more agile aircraft....they are meant to deliver devastating ordnance on target....AND THEN....Boom and Zoom the fighters against them. The F4U series of aircraft offers a challenge in all areas of flight and fight.

Yes...I am an F4U series afficienato. And I die in them a lot, too!

So, if you are looking for an aircraft series to challenge your skills as a fighter pilot and as a bomber pilot, give the F4U series a serious look, and a serious try....they are not easy....

And for the FW190 fans out there.....the F4U has similar characteristics....give it a try....you may be surprised.

Ive been 'training' in the FW 190 A-5 fot the past 2 weeks or so. Every 1 tells me to "keep it fast", but I love the sound of the engine when I drop the throttle for a hammer drop (?) on n m e. With mitsu's sound pack, the f/w sounds like a harley. A beast to fly, seems like killing throttle actually increases climb inna dogfight.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eee/Brrrrrrrrmmmmmmm !!!

Still haven't figured out how to kill la7, n1k....but i'm workin on it.

I know this fighter isn't made for t&b furballin', (I've learned this game in Fm2 and SpitIX), but Ive had some pretty good success, I'm really beginning to enjoy its flight characteristics and I'm notta spit dweeb n e more !!!

If I have to use American planes....I'll go with the P40-E. Nice Sunday flier lol.

lets see i do mine by map.

pizza map i use 262, spit14, and 109G10. just get behind em and whack em

. G10 for perk farming.

other maps:109F4 and 190A5

i use those on pizza map because you engagement will be like a 20k engagement. went to soda for help yesterday on spit14. now i know how to use it ok.
