I just saw it tonite. I understood Gollum/Smashed(whatever, he sounded smashed) fine, like talking to a homeless vagrant - it excercises your ability to comprehend the words coming out of people's mouths.

Haven't read the books, they were before my time, but I liked the movie a lot.

Frogm4n is 12? Coulda fooled me, thought it was still an embryo.

Brillant film, just waiting on the Extended version to buy....

Two Towers the Movie was a slap in the face to Tolkien.
That guy is probably still rolling over in his grave.
the first installment was tolerable, in spite of the mess they made of Arwen. The second installment left me wondering if Peter Jackson ever read the books... I could go on for pages.... Elves at Helm's deep?

Quite frankly anyone who thinks PJ "butchered" LOTR, or wasn't "faithfull" had better just stick to reading the books, and knowing..they could've done better themselves!
The fact Peter Jackson made that convoluted mess of a storyline accessible to the masses is an accomplishment itself.

Just be glad George Lucas didn't get a hold of it!

Ok I'm one of those old fashioned book reader types. I've been reading & rereading LOTR since I was 16.

Every 5 years or less without fail I've gladly turned my thoughts to an old dear friend who has a marvolous story to tell.

Fact of the matter is there is WAY too much material for ANY Nine 3 hour moves to put it all in, much less in 3.

So they have to make choices.
Done deal, deal with it.
Ok so parts of it arn't exactly correct, parts of it are so close to the image in my brain that its freaky! And I mean FREAKY! It's like Jackson has a mind machine & he's been looking in my head!

FYI we did a LOTR theme day on tues.

Started with #1 in extended version, quick break for supper then on to the two towers.

Was one of the very best days of my life, it was awesome.  (The theaters don't let you wave "sting" about & yell"

If that makes me a dweeb & less than a LOTR purist, cool, so be it.

Okay, so just finished watching it.  Decent, but not nearly as good as the book.  Some of the things that were changed, didn't need to be for the sake of cinema, but whatever.

Ghost, I gotta tell ya, I had the same feeling with some scenes.  Exactly as I pictured them.

Others, well...

Still a good movie, can't wait for ROTK.

BTW, those elephants were a wee bit bigger than I imagined.

Well ok there was "one" thing that did tick me off that Jackson COULD have fixed easily.

Eudoras the city in the middle of the "Plains" of Rohan perched up on the top of a New Zealand Rock was kinda funky.

I suppose all the available "plains" had houses or phone wires or something in the way.   Next time tell em to come to North Dakota, we still got plains up here.

Fantasy Fiction?

Penthouse letters are fantasy fiction, and they don't have trolls and goblins.... {at least not many.}
