Radeon9600pro TV out
« on: August 28, 2003, 12:43:52 PM »
Hi
buyed yesterday a Sapphire Radeon9600pro (yipii!:) )
I'm very satisfied with the speed and power of it. But I just can't put it to work over the TV.
I'm using the Catalyst 3.5 with the ATI Control centre and there I put the PC Mon as primer and the TV as clone. Its says I have not defined the main monitor. But I did. I reinstalled the drivers and the Control centre 3x, no use. Frustrating.
With the Detonator drivers never got such probs, worked very well.
I connected the Radeon over S-video via scart to the TV.
My System: AMD2600+, AsRock K7S8X with 1.90Bios and 1GB DDR Ram, Sapphire Atlantis Radeon9600pro with Catalyst 3.5, Samsung 700p plus Monitor, DirectX9 and WinXP pro with SP1.

The second thing is for me a little strange. I must connect the Radeon over the DVI output via adapter with the Monitor, because over the regular connect i have no start up screen of the computer. The Monitor get a signal on the WinXP log in screen.
If the connect is damaged where wouldn't be any picture, or?

Thanks for any advice

Sailor

metronom, I see you have not gotten an answer on this.  I have never used the TV in/out connectors on a video card, but here is a link to the Rage 3D forums.
I am sure you will get help pretty quick there:  http://www.rage3d.com/board/

Good luck!

Hi,
I managed to find out that the reason (IMO) I cannot get a picture on the TV screen is that I connected my Samsung SyncMaster700p plus over the DVI port via adapter on the video card, instead to go over the standard VGA port.
The reason? Because then I connect the PC Monitor over the standard VGA port I have no picture of the start up sequence, it means I cant even go into the BIOS. The Monitor gets a signal at the Log in screen of Windows.
But now is my question why on Earth does my Radeon 9600 make such a mess? If the VGA port is damaged where shouldn't be any signal. The Monitor cable couldn't been damaged too. If the power supply is to weak the system should have to be instable - no instability here.
Anyone have an Idea?

Hi again,

Just wanted to tell that I solved my problems :D
The troublemaker was the S-Video cable PC->TV. In the desperation of no solutions I stumbled over the solution by pure luck.
I just changed the S-Video cable and plugged the Monitor cable back in the VGA port and voila, everything ok. The PC Monitor react properly on the start up of the Computer and on the TV screen I got colour.
Why this S-Video cable works and the old one not, I don't know. They looks same to me.
So, just wanted to share my happiness with ya folks :)
