Your point is well taken, Alf. If you're going to get beat up no matter what you tell someone, why not just keep silent and avoid the pain?
I admit, though, I too am puzzled by the silence. Most Aces High participants can be proud of themselves for being good sports during this unprecedented period of not much new and not much in the way of status reports.
Of course, one reason we're good sports is because Aces High as is remains a fabulous bargain that is running really well and offers us almost infinite ways to enjoy ourselves.
Still, we can't just attribute the silence to the crew being too busy working on the revision/update/innovations. That pessimistic "So shoot me" at the bottom of the initial screen remains a tad worrisome, doesn't it.
I'm guessing that might have come from the pride of creating the cutting edge bomber change that was not as popular as the designers thought it would and should be.
Whether writer or painter or musician or computer game designer, few things are as personally difficult as offering your labor of love and sweat to the general public. You know you can't please everyone all the time, but your art demands you try anyway.
Aces High has become much like a rock band with its groupies. We dearly love what happens in our perpetual concert, and we'll wait as patiently as we can for the next new hit, trying not to distract the performers with our impatience, but still needing to be constantly entertained.
Now might be a good time for all of us to take a deep breath and vow to NOT rush in with endless nitpicking and criticism of things we don't like when Aces High II debuts.
Except for bug reports. And suggestions for improvements. Oh oh, there we go again.
