One of the great 'tough guy' actors. My favorite film of his has always been 'The Mechanic', if only because it did a lot of things the other 'hitman' or 'assassin' type movies never did. It had a pretty well written script. Jan Vincent becoming an apprentice hitman made sense - a rich trust-fund kid into thrills and nothing else. It takes 'directing/writing balls' to make movies where the 'hero' dies before the final scene, which is another reason why I really liked it (and 'To Live and Die in L.A.'). Also, the final scene in 'The Mechanic' is truly a classic.

I'd say the 'Magnificent Seven', but that wasn't 'his' movie alone, and 'Shichinin no samurai' is the origional and is better in my opinion (not easy to say - I really respect most of the cast of the 'Magnificent Seven' as actors).

I've always enjoyed "Once Upon a Time in the West".

I never really liked his Death Wish stuff...

I'd agree that he will be missed except that he's been effectively gone for the past decade (or more). Still... it's sad to hear of his death.

Alzheimer's has got to be one of the cruellest illnesses around.

The Mechanic, is that the one with the scene with the girl who slashed her wrists? Classy movie anyway – Cheers Mr B.

Was played on BBC2 last night before news of his death reached the UK.........with the demise of all three leading male actors (Bronson, Fonda, Robarts) it becomes a classic.

Mr Bronson,
My all time favorite movie of his was Mr Majestik.

You know... it's awful growing older and having all your screen heros die off...
