9/1/03 @ 23:30 PM EST, 300+ ppl lost UDP
« on: September 02, 2003, 12:56:53 AM »
Greetings All,

Got on-line around 23:00 EST, as I logged in I noticed around 450+ users in the main arena.

Around 23:30, I got the "Lost UDP, switching to TCP" message.  Several minutes later I was dumped to desktop.

Re-Launched AH, logged in, Main Arena now showed only 150 or so users on line, and NO PING TIME only "--" in the display.  The remaining arenas all had ping times in the 60-80ms range (my normal ping times)

Logged into the Training arena, spoke with Ren for a few minutes.  During which time, several users logged in complaining of the same experiance I just recently went thru.  Even Ren said the same had happened to him.

Around 23:45, I left the training area and tried Main Arena again, same situation, 150 or so users, "--" in the ping time display.

Went back to Training Arena, after a few minutes, Ren and the rest of us got the "Lost UDP" message, and several minutes later again dumped back to the desktop.

Re-Launched AH, logged in, Main Arena showed normal Ping Time and I succefully made it back in.  At which time several people expressed similar experiances.

Most interesting aspect of this is several people were able to keep there connections to the Main Arena, but they said they did notice LOTS of people dropping off-line.

So, maybe its not an AH problem, but I don't think its my ISP (Road-Runner Cable) as many other users on different ISPs had same problem.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it :)  BTW, my times might be off by a little, but they should be close..
