.. if gunnery didn't change, then WHAT?
« on: September 21, 2000, 09:55:00 PM »
I'm wondering if you folks are seeing what I'm seeing?

Bullets seem slower.. ?

"G" effects on ballistics.. i.e. deflection shooting off??

I know nothing was intentionally changed in 1.04 as far as "gunnery" goes... but what has the new physics modeling done to kinetics and ballistics??

Does this question even make sense??

Oh well.. what I'm seeing is defintely not expainable by "everything is travelling faster, therefore you need more lead".. I'm missing shots at 150mph hanging on the prop just like the guy I'm shooting at..

Somethings goin on... ?

Yip, i have noticed the same thing. THere was another thread somewhere else on the board that covered this. But i dont think we have had any word from HTC.

My gunnery is down 40% at the moment,i feel like i cant hit a blemmin thing, i guess we all just got ta get used to giving a litle more lead.

Its not so much a change in the gunnery model as it is people are now flying to defeat the disapearing icons- not flying for angles as in 1.03.

I like the icon range changes for 1.04,same for fuselage/wing masking of icons, however I don`t care for the canopy braces removing icons as it penalizes planes with braces and makes a slight break turn defeat what would be a good gun solution. This feature has decreased some of the fun factor for me.

The "scooting" effect the disapearing icons produces is very frustrating, particulary for BNZ planes.

i've notices the same thing even when the enm plane is flying level.
i have to shoot way above him to get hits. use to i could aim strait at him and hit at close range.(d500 or less)

I haven't noticed that I should have changed the amount of lead.  But what I have noticed, is that microwarps are gone.  And that did wonders to my gunnery!  As RWY knows from last night.

Wow.  My gunnery hit % hasn't changed at all.  The flickering icons have ended some of my previous (unrealistics) attack angles, but other than that it seems fine from this end.

Since the new FM my Gunnery % is only halfe f what i uesed to have .. but i think that's mainly due to Icons being no longer displayed when under the nose (i did a LOT of deflection shooting like that ..)

and the Break turn possibility of the new FM airplanes .. that cause me to shoot air to tiny bits quite often now ..

Has anyone else started modifying their convergence patterns since 1.04?  When I get a hit, I make sure I'm going to do some serious damage rather than telegraphing my presence with a ping.  I'm holding my fire longer now since the greater E retention allows for more drastic changes and subsequent crossing rates.  I've sensed that bullets were taking a lot longer to reach the targets causing me to take longer leads, especially in high angle-off attacks.
I've also noticed a marked decrease in complaints about long range kills. Is there a direct correlation to what we've all been sensing and seeing?

I'd fit into that category.  Now that the micro-warps are gone... I look for the up close kill once again.  When the micro-warps were there, I'd try for 600-700 yard shots because anything closer jumped all over the place.

I got one of my first long range kills in 1.04.  890 yards.  I don't usually fire that far out... but I was desperate.  Funny thing is.. I damaged the front of his aircraft from this far out.
