There is no way in hell you can fly by a map in the current terrain.  There just isnt enough detasil in the maps or variation in the terrain.  There are no real cities/bridges/landmarks to help guide you....not even detailed railroad tracks.  Not to mention that radar was a part of WWII and could give reasonably accurate info on local.

i can half way navigate these maps with no gps, once you fly them day after day you start to learn where certain things are from certain bases, the mountains and lakes always stay in the same place so i use mostly mountains, hills and lakes stuff like that to navigate rightnow just for fun. But i agree we need much more detaild maps for bombing missions specially in TOD if we lose the GPS

Some of the maps have 20k foot mountain ranges, that have vegetation growing on the peaks. Shouldnt they be covered in snow from about 11k feet?
