Why not a separate TAS & BK arena?
« on: September 09, 2003, 12:53:12 PM »
I've been reviewing the BBS posts of the two squadrons that form the Mutual Backslappers Society - the TAS and the BKs. Never a day goes by without one of them singing the praises of the other, and bemoaning the way that everyone else plays - despite their assurances that everyone should be allowed to play how he wants.

Since they won't go to the DA, why not create a BKTAS arena- a sandpit reserved for likeminded souls. There would be no strat, and the fields of each country could be made to overlap. The taxiway for a BK field could lead on to the runway of a TAS field. There would never be a need to climb to more than 500'. Indeed, to save time, the opposing squads could just shoot at eachother on the ground from opposite ends of the runway. (There would be two runways which would be shared between both squads to save time. They have such busy lives, and can only spare an average of 34 minutes per day for AH.) They could have their own BBS, and ponder the wonderment of overlapping fields. Fuel would be available by pipeline, with no nasty buffs/fluffs to ruin their fun. The only planes available would be "weed wackers" - the early war T&B monsters. There would be penalties for flying above 2K. The altimeters of the aircraft would not be calibrated above 3K. All aircraft would have fixed gear because it wouldn't be worth putting the gear away, given the short distances to be flown. If it really takes off, we could rename the arena to AH3/TFTS (the fight's the thing!).

Believe it or not, I think there's currently two maps in development for that concept.

It'd be GREAT to get the DA and put an actual MAP in it that was set up to encourage AIRPLANE FIGHTS. I'd be in there permanently.

TFTT, not an arena named for any squad.

Who else do you know that used/uses "erm" in posts?  :D

BTW, I don't "bemoan" how other people play. But I'm not afraid to sing the praises of folks that play this game to FIGHT. Unfortunately, there just doesn't seem to be that many of those anymore.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Is this "locking" material?

If it is......IN!

I don't think you can start a thread that takes a direct shot at a squad. You can post to a thread, and take all the shots you want at a squad, while maintaining a smug, supperior, "We are evolved because we play this way" attitude. You can run around all day saying our squad is cool, our squad is more advanced, you guys are the suck.

That's fine.

But I think you might have qualified for a lock here, Beetle.

Try to be  a little more subtle next time. (See above)

You shouldn't limit yourself beetle, there are more people out there with these ideas, hoping for a call from HTC saying, "That's a wonderfull concept, we're going to implement that right now! "Are you interested in a job?"

ROFLMAO

Is there anyone out there that can see the map variety and the great work HTC has done to accomodate much of the playing styles?  Yet still keep it real?  Everytime a map pops up we see a different/same old whine on the BBS.  Works in rotation, just like the maps!:p
