Yo Skuzzy or anyone!?

Gettin some strange rainbow effects from time to time in AH.

Tonite the field I was flying over did something strange.  It occured just at  the main arena dusk.  There was a banding effect going along both runways.  Also when I landed noticed a small oblong shaped rainbow? something on the left side of each band running across the runway.

Yesterday I was flying gunner in a buff and saw a large sorta oblong rainbow somethin on the side of a hill near a base.  This occured during mid to late morning in the main arena.  Shortly there after my machine lockedup.

And just recently AH has frozen two different times, and the very last thing it did was tonite right after the field thing above, it lockup my machine when I logged off of AH.

Do I need a reinstall? Or an uninstall and install? or should I start worrying about my machine?

Could be heat related.  If the video card is getting a bit warm, artifacts become prevalent.

Power supply could also effect this.  As the video card gets warmer it draws more power/current.  If the supply is marginal and the card is getting hot, then artifacts would appear.

It does not sound like a software problem.

What skuzzy said..

Try this link and see if your powersupply is abit weak, not 100% accurate but should give a pointer

Ahhh thank you.

Checked pulling 277 watts on a 300 watt power supply BUT had a DVD in the system and was running as high as 310 before so my power supply may have become marginal as a result. :(

So guess I need a new system or a new power supply in the 350 range at the minimum.

Got it on a UPS and have had a ups on it for over a year.

Also noticed it acts up after being online for about 4 hours in AH but seems to do fine until then.

So guess I better reduce my marathon AH time to under 4 hours for now.

Just bare in mind that the power calculator is not accurate, the site states that has saftey margins... should be a fairly good indicator.

A new psu is relativly cheap so you dont really need a new system :)

When i start builing my system it will not need that much power but im still gonna go for a minimum of 350w psu to be "futureproof"

CC :)

Somethin seems to be acting up on my system and it's probably the power supply.

Something that I should probably take into consideration is the age of the MB as well.

The SD-11 wasn't the best MB even at the time I got it.
