WTG! How do you prep the meat?  Do you turn it into sausage?  I've never taken a Prongy before though they're abundant in Montana.

I just want to do alittle back slapping on myself...the last deer I shot some years ago was with a Model 700, irons sites, while it was moving at 120 yards. Shot it right thru the heart. :)  It took one step and didn't even know he was dead until the next step.

I heard pronghorn meat was really greasy and smelly. Not too good to eat at all.

Weird how that growth on its back looks like a little kid.

How is the little guy's arm doing?  Didn't he break it a few months back?

Looks like it is all healed up.

Dune:  I shot him with my 300wsm, 150gr balistic silver tip.  166 yards, off hand.  Could have taken a longer shot, but the stalk is the most exciting part.

RIpsnort:  You prep the meat just like deer.  The taste is just like lamb, actualy very nice and not nearly as "strong" as deer.  I had this one processed by the local meat shop.  Going to be all chops, steaks, and sausage.

Hey what part of Montana is your property in?  I just bought a house in Hamilton, Mt.  Sold my house and will be getting the heck away from this liberal love hole Nov 14th.  If your near by we will have to hook up and go kill something!  :D

MT:  Your not going to get a reaction out of me that easy.

Curval:  It was his right leg actualy, but thanks for remembering.  He is all better and can get into more stuff than ever!  It never really slowed him down much.

Now ELk season:  Nov 1st in Idaho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHH! You're KILLING me! ELK! YUM!  I haven't hunted big game since my first son was born, working mom and all, been difficult to get away.

We're in Ennis, MT, 70 miles N of Yellowstone on Hwy. 287.  Going to look up Hamilton on Mapquest now. If we're close, we're DEFINATELY going to have to get together during one of the seasons...I love to upland bird and duck hunt, fish.  Big game...well, I don't get that excited about it anymore but when my sons old enough, we'll be deer hunting again.

LOL,   Hawklore, he is a total ham when it comes to photos. He is only 15 months and very smart (not that I'm biased or anything).  Besides his mom was taking the pic and he is still a mommas boy (for now).

MT:  2 things, one is your friend prolly gut shot the pronghorn he said was so terrible.  Two is if you have ever skinned a coyote, the next time you guta  deer, antelope, elk what ever you will think it smells like roses.  Coyotes STINK!  hense the reason I dont skin them anymore.  The day before I got the 'lope,  I found a yote in a field, he was so far out that my 800yard rangefinder couldn't get a range.  SO I held about 5 ft over his back and let lose with a 150 gr bullet, I hit just to the left and behind him, he had no Idea where the shot came from so he took off running straight at me.  I chambered another round and waited behind a small juniper tree, at 100 yards I shot him in the face, that was the most impressive bullet expansion I have ever seen.    ANyway, I have had deer, elk, antelope, bear, mountain goat and buffalo just to name a few of the odd things I've eaten, the only one I will never eat again is buffalo, that was nasty.

Sounds great Rip, looking forward to it, if things go the way I think they are I am going to work 2 days on, 5 off.... :D

I understand the working mom thing, but being that this is my second wife I se tthe rules from the get go.  I didn't hunt for 7 years during my first inprisonment, and I was not going to put off what I love to do for anyone this time, turns out she grew up in a household of hunters and had no problem with me going hunting.  In fact her dad is taking me to Idaho, guided bull elk hunt on a privet ranch Nov 1.

Good on ya Medicboy wit the 2nd wife :) Luckily, my wife encourages me to hunt, but its just tough to find the time with toddlers...they're fast approaching that "Tag-along" age so happy hunting days will be here again (Wife loves to fish, and could probably outfish any of you AH'ers....cept maybe Udie. :D )

My wife likes to shoot at targets, I have a .22 Ruger pistol that she loves.  So we go shooting together, but she doesn't like the idea of killing something (although she ate the venison I brought home last season).  Last winter I went pheasant hunting with her uncle.  It's always nice to find a wife that will let/encourage you do the things you enjoy
