3 28k c47s go down in flames
« on: August 12, 2000, 11:01:00 AM »
knits attack a1 and bring in bunch of c47s at 28k.

although very frustrating fighting their superb17s at that altitude it sure made my day to blow up 3 of their stratoc47s in short order

was almost as much of a spectacle as funked's 4 c47 kills but these guys weren't in formation

thanks knits for the fun

lol Cit I saw you talking about it. Why would the C-47's need to be at 28 K?

the only coherent reason I could think of was safety of high alt.

maybe they were gonna try the invisible troop bug on a1 or maybe wait till fighters came and then spiral down then drop.
dunno what they were thinking but whatever it was they deserved to be squished for it

Hmm interesting when you consider that the service ceiling for the C-47 was 24,000 feet.

* How long does it take to get a C47 to 28k?

* How can you make an accurate drop from 28k?

* How long would it take to dive down to a reasonable drop alt without ripping your wings off?

Maybe they were sightseeing?  Watching the sunset?  Testing oxygen equipment?

Here's the real story:

B17's were to level flak, we were at 25K.

C47's were to drop invisible troops, they were at 22k.

C47's spread out for safty as to not get shot down in a bunch, however, we had 10 alt cons at target by the time we got there.

And it was (4) C47's not 3.

Boy Cita, you a good flyer but lousy factual reporter.

I told Warchild I did NOT think it  was a good idea.

Woulda worked too ripsnort if we hadn't stirred the hornets nest just 30 mins earlier by porking thier fuel, ord and barracks.  Besides... i think that spy of ours rated us out again.

hello:

well as a Knight, i am glad cit got all four c-47's. I dont like it when the Bish or Rooks take advantage of a bug and i sure as hell dont want to see the Knights taking advantage of a bug. now you Knights that are thinking of those kind of tactics, stop that.

warchild that spy is called a sector bar and it dosnt take sherlock holmes to figure out the only reason for a solid red bar of knits to be at a distant 5k base is to launch a raid on a1 since HQ is clear across the map.

I went looking for your little raid party and warned the other bish about it after I found your 30k b17s thus why you were greeted by a ready and waiting welcoming commitee and your invisible jerks died in their stratodweeb transports before they had the chance to make themselves invisible

ripsnort I just watched the film and your almost right...

the last 2 c47s were only 26k but does it matter?

me again:

cit, i said that i dont like it when people use a bug, but that is no reason for you to be rude about it. I was defending a30 and you where one of the attacking Bishops when a c-47 dropped goons from well above 10k to make the capture. the invisable troops is a bug, and the Bishops have used it, as i have seen a couple Bishops use the ack bug at a1.
now thats a good way to pad your score wouldn't you say.

I was having a good time shooting down three stratospheric c47s. that was the point of the original post to share the stupidity of c47s at rediculously high altitudes and their demise and to poke fun at the knits

Cita, you'll never find VMF-323 members (WC and I in this case) above 25K in a buff.  If you saw cons at 28k, they were  not our B17's.

Actually our first attack on A1 where we porked thier fuel and ord and barracks was done at exactly 24k feet and it fell from there with our 3 reversals.  I droped all my bombs and tried to make it back to a14 for landing and got chased down by a strato 38 ( tho i do not think it was cit) and into a nasty horde of a13 defenders that were not at all happy to see me.  Got 3 of the nasty lil buggers first tho
