Taken from here. Jebus H Christy, I think Berlusconi wants a career change to a stand up comedian. There's no other logical explanation for the head of a media empire rolling around with both feet in his mouth.

LOL!

In the first part, Mr Berlusconi was quoted as saying that Italy's judges were "mentally disturbed" and "anthropologically different" from other people.

But it was also the latest in a long line of intensely controversial remarks from a leader who only this week declared that he had no intention of being "politically correct".

His critics are just playing that tired old "judge" card.

get your facts straight MT, there is no evidence that mussolini got the trains to run on time.

Yeah, from what I've seen the Italians are trying to figure out who voted for this guy.

Berlusconi is a cancer for italian political life.
He shows only arrogange, ignorance for history, and whats worst , contempt for italian establishment. (not to speak about his gags in Europe)
Its a good question asking what Italians thought when voting him
Still I cant understand:(
My only hope is that my fellow-countrymen has opened their eyes , and they  will give him a kick "just right there" , next poll.

Am I right in thinking Franco's the only one that's "got away with it"? Lived to a natural death and left his land in a fit state to progress smoothly after him?

I don't believe any one else has done that since classic times.

Berlusconi is an entertaining head of sate each time he says something I laugh my bellybutton off.  Gotta admit the guy's got real balls , he doesn't give a shreck what people think about him, he just says it right out even though some of his comments are loony  he is quite colorful, gotta admire that.

If I'm not mistaken, he only did so because he thought that the at the time prince of Spain would follow his footsteps. But he didn't, and supported democracy after the dictator died.

I think it was a pretty uneventful transition to democracy because most of the society wanted it (except, of course, for some generals, who saw their power rapidly diminishing).

There was a frustrated coup in '82, again (in part) because the king didn't support it, and without the king, some of the generals and colonels that were supporting the coup backed off.

Still, it's regarded as a good example of a mostly bloodless transition without any foreign intervention.
