Sure but that’s not the point sites like CNN should not be so cheap!

I expect it on Joebobs home page or Mullet.com

But CNN?

I use "pop-up stopper pro " from panicware myself ...they have a free version also ... works great ... and if you want /need to get a popup windo to open (such as some of the downloads/pic's in the box ext...)   you just hold down the ctrl key and hit the link again ... *****  stars imo.

The best solution for CNN and sites with popups is not to use a blocker; they can not tell and just assume you are enjoying those delightful little commercials.  No, the best thing to do is to not visit those sites.

Would you rather have pop-up adds, or have to pay a subscription?

Wow...you got a pop up...did you have to pay for it??  Just for the record Mickey, it wasn't me that griped about pop-ups.  Like Pfunk said, the google bar eliminates those....

No, but when I asked if one would rather have pop-ups or pay for a subscription, you said "Neither. Foxnews.com is free!!", as if foxnews.com had no pop-ups and you didn't have to pay for it.
