Walkers crisps
« on: September 17, 2003, 11:28:43 AM »
I've always liked 'em, especially the Roast Chicken flavour.

I just saw some new varieties in the store, but was in a rush and didn't check 'em out yet.

Anyone try the "Chinese BBq Rib" or "Chicken Marsala"?

I guess this is a question for the Brits.

The new varieties are good, even though I don't really like crisps generally. :D

The best new flavors over here are the Habanero and the smokey cheddar.  Yum, Yum, wish I could eat them.

I don't like the Chinese BBQ ones but the Masala ones are ok.  I don't eat them that regular since they leave a nasty taste in my mouth! :)

A few years ago, you could buy hedgehog flavour crisps. I think that was a marketing gimmick - lol. By the time I had a chance to buy some, they were sold out.

Walker's Crisps are (still?) produced at Barkby Road, Leicester - home town of 99Gatso and myself - and to the English footballer, Gary Lineker, which is why he features in many of the Walkers TV ads. Lineker used to play for Leicester, before he moved on to grander things - Tottenham Hotspur.

I rarely eat them myself - too much fat and salt!

Replicant - the taste problem can be solved by eating them along with a pint of Ruddles County - readily available where you live.

Now this is a topic I can get my teeth into. Walkers are my fave too, with chicken or smokey bacon being my first choice. They introduced tomato ketchup flavour (spew) in a similar colour bag to the bacon ones which led to near fatal spitting episodes driving away from petrol stations, but I can forgive them that :)

the walkers bbq spare rib crackers and lemon grass ones are LUSH!!

the crisp version arn't quite as good though still very nice.

IIRC gary lineker is used as the bad guy (always stealing those crisps) because in real life he never recieved a card whilst playing football, as he was to nice :)

Ahhhh....the penny finally drops. The ad with Paul Gascoigne crying was funny, don't think much of the Indian wedding spoof.

i do enjoy walkers, but i must say i have a soft spot for salt and vineger Discos.

My pet crisp peeve are Pringles - they are very lightly flavoured and so tease you with a promise of what is possible. This tricks your (stupid stupid) brain into thinking if you eat more you will get a stronger flavour which of course is rubbish, the illusive nirvana of a satisfying burst of flavour is denied you. You're are left unsatisfied, feeling a little sick and a huge tube-full of crisps fatter.

Once you pop you can't stop, as they say.

I actually like Nik-Naks nice'n'spicey flavour ones best.  Also Walkers Salt & Vinegar Square crisps.  Prawn Cocktail are my fave Walkers crisps though.

Pringles are nice though be careful of salt & vinegar ones; I ate so many that my lips went numb! :)

Beetle, yeah, if I have a packet of crisps then they go down fine but the morning after I have a really horrible after taste which has put me off any sort of crisps.  As for Ruddles, it hasn't been brewed in Rutland since around 1993?  Grolsch bought them out but sold them on... dunno where it's brewed now days.  County used to be a fine pint though! :)
