Best friend and family have decided to stay and weather out Isabel
« on: September 17, 2003, 05:32:52 PM »
I talked to him today and im still not sure why they decided to stay.  He and his fiance live in Manteo,NC his parents live on the sound in Nags Head, NC.  His parents place is a $800,000 home with over 20 windows all of which had to boarded up at $30/sheet of plywood.  He said that probably half of the locals are still there. He is going to take pictures and maybe shoots some video I will post it here when he sends it to me.  Does OBX ever post on the BB???????? b/c I know he is from Kill Devil Hills which is about 10 miles from Nags Head/Manteo.

This is a picture I took from the top of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse about a month ago when I visted him.  Currently Isabel is 335 MI SSE of this exact position, and if predictions are right its gonna hit spot on.

Yeah that and the one road that goes up and down the outer banks, I wish I had pictures of it.  The drive from Nags Head to Hatteras in some parts has about maybe 500ft of beach/dunes seperating the road, all thats gonna be underwater as well

A good portion of that will possibly not be there after the storm.  I am not one to talk, having ridden out  a lot of hurricanes, but no mas por mi.

I am assuming that when they relocated the Lighthouse they took precautions against hurricanes.  Hopefully the Lighthouse will still make it
