Today I had a bad day...just one of those where you make a bunch of dumb mistakes and everything seems to go wrong.
So, I had come back from a good f4u sortie at 114 with about 3 kills.
I was getting low on fuel so I decided to head back to the cv.
I did the usual, lowered my flaps, my speed, and got my gear down on a nice approach to the cv. I was saw the cv getting closer and closer, and I started to aim my plane for the landing cables. And...yes! a beautiful landing dead smack on the cables at a perfect speed, not too hard landing or not too soft. But suddenly I find myself rolling down the cv deck...
I forgot to put the tailhook down
I reacted quickly, putting the plane full throttle, and took off from the cv for a touch-and go.
I put my gear up and swung back around for another go. On the approach, I put my gear down, and my tail hook this time. I was coming closer to the cv, was going to be a good landing-but I made a dumb mistake and accidently relaxed for a second, thinking it would be a good landing. Suddenly I came down to early, my gears kinda tapping the edge of the cv deck, causing the plane to bounce over the wires, landing on the deck near the control tower:mad: I once again put on the full throttle and WEP to take off, another touch and go. I was actually suprised I had not crashed yet, two bad landings and I was alive.
Well the third time is always the charm, I was making a great approach at the perfect speed, everything ready, when some cherry picking la7 comes and shoots me down, before I can get enough time or speed to dodge it.
After that, I said good by to knights, and decided to log because I knew I was having yet another bad luck day.
I had a bad day today. We all do. Now that you have heard mine, I ask you this question: Was was
your bad day?
