Pylon Races!!

Anyone else think this would be a cool addition to AH2? Possibly even be able to "customize" your plane for performance? I'm not talking like Gran Turismo crap, but the ability to set mixture and all that other stuff I know nothing about. Seems like it would be alot of fun. Could maybe throw in canyon races, etc.

A cool map would be one with a tunnel race.  I'm thinking 20 miles of winding tunnels, and players choice on planes.  Daredevils could take an Me-262 and depend on lightning reflexes, maybe conservative pilots could take an Me-109 or P-51 and torque their way through the tunnels.

Is that possible with the current map format?

As  Ben hinted, there used to be a H2H map that was a race.  You took off at the same time, and then raced through a canyon.  The pylons were bomber hangars, which you had to fly through.

Race was won by overflying the tower at low alt.  The only downside was that you needed someone in the tower to judge who won if it was close.  Most of the time, someone would die flying through a hangar and end up back in the tower in time to wave the checkered flag.

It was big fun, and could be a nice change of pace from the usual style of H2H ffa furball play.

Doesnt Ben have that canyon race map. Its really long and has a long spot with ack shooting to spice thing up.  It has a center section with a gv track and pt boat track. If you want to have some fun online with what you got. Try going to the DA with your squad and race me163's thru the canyons at the bottom of the map. Make a max alt of say 200' agl.  Lots of fun!

Last year I took part in some pylon races in IL-2 and IL-2: FB. Those were kick butt races when you set the field at 16 guys and have a couple of judges to watch who wins. Never done it in AH but at least in IL-2 you have custom skins no matter what plane as long as you skinned it.

In JG 3 we did this after practice one night with 262's. We used two fields near each other in the DA and you had to make two laps to win. Was pretty fun. :D

Second race you had to pass through the Bomber hangar at each field. Lost a few but still had enough to continue the race.

Back in WARBIRDS they had an event one time that was a race like that. Except it had a course laid out on a map and you had to go through canyons, around pylons, under obsticals, etc.
