How a bout the Dornier 335. Perk about 60.

The ki-83. Twin engine Japanese monster. 2x30mm + 2x20mm
And a top speed of about 435mph. Perk aobut 50.

109k-4. Finish out the 109's probperly. End the debate and perk the thing 50.

p61 black widow night fighter. May keep some of us around when night falls. No perk ride.

The Do335 was never used. I wouldn't have a problem with it being added, but given its armament and speed I'd say a price of about 80.

No Japanese aircraft used by the Japanese in WWII could break 400mph sustained while level. What the Japanese really, really need is the Ki-84-I-Ko. The best Japanese fighter to see service in WWII, and also the fastest.

Why perk the Bf109K-4? Sure, add it, but it doesn't warrant being cursed with a perk tag. It'll only be slightly better than the Bf109G-10.

The P-61A or B Black Widow would be neat and some people (Ripsnort) have asked for it for years, but its top speed of only 360mph would hamper it severely. Also the changes required to simulate night fighting would be huge. Currently all we have is the MA, but darker.

A new perk bomber would be nice, but there are very few candidates. I would say that the Mosquito B.Mk XVI would be the one to do if a quick new perk bomber is desired. The B-29A would be the other good perk bomber addition, but would take HTC a lot of work to do. The B-32 Dominator is the outside possibility for a perk bomber, but it hardly saw any action and would be just as much work as the B-29A.

Really??? Ive neer seen it, but it was put in production in 1944, id assumed it was flown in combat at least as much as the niki-2.

My info must be wrong on the ki-83. Whcih is quite possible,
anybody hae a top speed chart for this thing? I was just thumbing thru my hunters in the sky book when I figured id start a controversial thread.

If the Ta 152 is a perk ride, and the spit14 is a perk ride, then the k-4 is a perk ride also.

The Do335 started production about the same time as the N1K2-J (both started production before the Ta152), but for some reason didn't get to operational status until just as the war ended for Germany. They never flew combat operations so far as I have found.

Regarding perks, a decent case can be made that the Ta152 and Spit XIV should either not be perked or should be hidden perks like the F4U-1C.

The Luftwaffe fans seem to expect the Bf109K-4 to be a wonder weapon. It wasn't. The truth is that the Bf109 never matched the Spitfire again after the Bf109F-4 and Spitfire Mk V had had their day. From the Spitfire Mk IX and Bf109G on the Spitfire was superior.

Now, the Fw190 is a different story...

WhiteHawk, your numbers on the Ki-83 are about right (my book says 438 mph) but that plane never went into service. It was still in development when the war ended. Would be fun to play with though.

As for perk bomber, the Mosquito B.Mk XVI would be an interesting addition, But I don't reckon it should be perked.
Perhaps the B-24, B-25 or the He-177 would be a good way to start, but as for perked...perhaps the B-29, but I doubt it'll make an apperance any time soon, if at all.

The gun firing up through a port in the glazing over the radio operator's compartment was, IIRC, deleted in the late E or early F models.

OK..as far as the Japanese planes not doing 400, what about the shinden and the Shusui? These are 2 more planes that may not have seen service. Also, does anybody hae any combat info on the bachem ba.349? Just thumbing thru this book and there are a few interesting planes that I never new existed.

Nitsubishi J8M (shusui) is the japanese equal to the me163. Surprising that it didnt fly missions. (if this is the case). Particulary against the b29's.

The shinden is a rear mounted 6-blade prop, with a top speed of 466 mph. Definately late war. Was it a combat aircraft or a drawing board theory?

The Bachem is an x project looking rocket thing. (x project as in the x planes that set speed records after the war).
Top speed in excess of 600mph!

Ive seen the 'Secret weapons of the Axis' program, and I dont recall seeing any of these.

AFAIK, the bachem nattter never flew a combat mission. It did get two kills, however, both of test pilots.

The shinden never flew operationally. Neither did the J8M.
