Techno to House is like Apples to Pears.
Techno is fast electronic music with high BPMs.
House music is slower with (maybe) a touch of Jazz or a touch of Techno (i.e. hard House)

For a good example of House Music listen to Ian Pooley (p.e. Vocal House) or St. Germain (great Deephouse).

U see there are many colors of House as there are many colors of Jazz, Techno ... but I dont like Techno or Trance. I'm more in favor of House (not Hard House and no Euro House) and DnB (got u confused ???).

For a good description take a look here

I like trance the best!  House is good too though, lots of bass :)  Techno is alright too, but House and trance are better :)

I was a small fan of Acid house (ACEEeed!) back around 1989 (88?)ish.  I was in St. Louis at the time, and alot of DJ's played both St. Loo, and Chi town clubs.  My roomate loved Acid house.

I tended to go more with industrial type stuff after My Life With a Thrill Kill Kult played the club I worked in and I had a chance to party with them.  Ended up doing a quick road trip to their next gig and partied the rest o' weekend w/ the band (BUNCH of freaky Satan worshipers btw, but hey, on as much chemicals as I was, several Demons poping out going "booga booga!!" would MABY have gotten an "oh WoW man" from me.)

Thanks for the great flashback!
durn... maby I WAS cool way back then.
hmm.... who knew?

Went to an English pub in New Orleans French Quarterone time years ago.  That place was set up like one of the taverns in a Frankenstein movie, with suits of armor all about, and brick and exposed beam interior.  It was a serious place to go drinking, with dart boards.   LOL...my friend got drunk and started shaking one of the suits of armor, cursing it out.  Thought the bouncer was gonna get upset, but he didn't.

When I went there, it was practically empty.  We drank a lot.  By coincidence, met a guy there who I knew.  Him being there, let me know we were in a real dive.  The place reminded me of a den of thieves...a pirate's hangout.  Maybe being boisterous saved our butts.

So whatever you do, don't go to any places like that in London.;)

I've never seen a pub in the UK with that has suits of armour.  Whats all that about ? Sounds bloody dangerous to me.

Aww, nothing TigerStolly.  This was in New Orleans, not UK.  Was just trying to be funny.  I've never been to London and probably never will go, though I'd like to.  Maybe one day.

You guys don't need advice.  Go where ever you want to.

But yes, NO is a dangerous place to go.  I know that for sure.  I won't go there anymore, unless I'm there for a specific reason, going to a specific place, and with friends around.

Most pubs don't have suits of armour, but it was a theme pub thousands of miles from England so it isn't exactly a surprise. We have similar things over here, which is a little odd.

I've always wanted to go to New Orleans. I like my food and it's supposed to be a bit special around that way.

They weren't actual suits of armor, I must clarify.  They were the decorative suits of armor.

Dowding, the food is ok...too spicy for my liking.  The raw oysters are my favorite, eaten at the oyster bar.  With beer and crackers, hot sauce and Worchester Sauce.

There are some good Italian restaurants in the French Quarter, plus one or two great seafood restaurants.  But it's been at least 10 years since I was there, and I live 2 hours away.

Attending a convention would be the best way to experience New Orleans.  Even folks who have lived here (Mobile) for many years, always seem to stay in the tourist part of the French Quarter when they visit there.

There was a cool bar called The Dungeon, that opened at 12 midnight.  Hippy bar.  Was way back in an interior section of a city block, accessed by a brick path about 100 feet long, through a narrow courtyard with a colorful waterfall.  Place was cramped and elongated, not unlike a submarine.  It even had a conning tower bar up a spiral staircase.  This upper bar was small and about 12 by 20 feet, or smaller...padded in carpet with couches or sandbag type chairs lining the walls, and a bar on one end.  Two small tables and chairs.

If it's still there, that would be the place to go.

I'm really into curry, and am gradually working up the heat scale - jalfrezi or madras is my usual. I think I could give NO food a go.

I've never had oysters though. Sounds a strange combination with the beer, but I'm willing to give it a go. :) I'll get there someday.
