The right toe brake on my CH Pro Peddles has stopped working and is 'maxed' at the 255 setting. The left is fine.

Has anyone else had this experience and was it software or Hardware related.

I deleted everthing from my register and re-installed all my hardware but it didn't help.

This is hardware-related. Unfortunately, the wires CH uses in its pedals are very thin and brittle, and over time they're prone to snapping. Once a wire snaps, the function that it corresponds to ceases working. I lost both toe brakes and one of four rudder axes (right up, right down, left up, left down being other wires that can potentially snap in addition to the toe brakes).

If you feel confident opening up the pedals, it's not very difficult to mend the broken wires. I managed to fix my rudders myself, and they're like new again. If you're in the least bit worried about dealing with the innards of the pedals, contact CH immediately, and ship them back for replacement.

Thanks Deadman,

I just got off the phone with CH and they said 'hardware' to but weren't as specific as you about the problem.

When I ask if I could find the problem myself by taking off the bottom cover they said the peddles are "easy to get apart but hard to get back together" and wanted me to send it to them and gave me a RMA #. Oh, and it voids the warranty.

I understand their position but it's pain for me to send it the whole way across the country and the whole way back for just a broken wire as we both suppect.

I'm just going to wait till I 'feel lucky' and take that cover off and get out the soudering iron

SUCCESS! Thanks Dedman, you were 100% correct. A broken wire. I soldered the two ends and put on some shrink wrap and everything is working again.

Some advice to anyone who tries this. You are going to need someone to help you. I did it alone and it was a pain. The two half separate with wires running between them. You're going to need someone to hold the bottom half while you work. I had to build a jig out of scrap wood.

NOTE: There are going to be two large springs connected to the rear screw posts on the top half that will 'pop' off the posts as soon as you lift the bottom up. It's a b--ch getting them back on. In fact I had to cut a notch on the post with a model saw to get them to stay in place. CH must have a special tool that holds them on while the tech puts it together. If you have a digital camera it might be a good idea to take some pictures early on.
