Sunk CV last night
« on: September 28, 2003, 04:15:10 PM »
Sorry for sinkin your furball cv parked off 21. I tried upping 21, base was being shelled by cruiser as well as being vulched. So I upped from 2 sectors away across ocean, when I get there cruiser is gone so I sunk the cv. Then I seen the furball guys comments on chnl 1, and realized it was the furball express. Sorry , didn't mean to sink furball express.

PLEASE tell your cruiser NOT to fire on the base, if I see the cruiser firing I assume it's a base capture in progress, after all, if you guys are furballing, you wouldn't dare do a strat thing like killing the base fuel.

Firing cruiser means cv fair game. No base attacking means furball express.

I agree Bumba ... as an attack pilot who also enjoys a wicked 40 plane furball .... the minute the task force starts to shell the town , is an invitation to bring the A20 to the dance .....

What would really be cool , is a CV group for furballs ... I wouldn't mind seeing a task group allocated to each country with an extra CV instead of the cruiser .....so you couldn't have one guy just jump in the big inchers and ruin a good fight . To be perfect tho ... you would have to remove the GV spawns from the group .. that way you could be assured it's not a base capture in Sheeps clothing .

I think you did right , AirB .. if the group is shelling the base , it's time to remove the threat . see ya ITA .

Hey Rev . I too enjoy a good fuball, everyone flyin around in close quarters punching holes in each others planes, planes aflame all around , people giving check sixes with desperation in their voices....yah, furballs are cool, not the only aspect of the game, but a cool one at that.

That cv idea is a good one, altough I'd lay off any post with...'in sheeps clothing', it seems the Bish are quite protective of their sheep.:)

Cya up rev

The answer to the furballers' CV is a small sea in the middle of the map with no base except ports within 25 to 50 miles of the coast.  I wonder if Fester is listening.  And just like TT, make it two CVs per country and no Crusiers to sink the other ships.  Then enable all the fighters.  You can land a 109 or a P51 if you have to.
Easy in-game again.

Parking a CV within 10 mile radius of enemy base is just asking to be hit.

Besides, unless the enemies are REALLY out to kill the CV, (...like the last time when I saw 3x B26 formations with 9x buffs gathered together, all plunging toward the CV at once..), individual jabos or bombers can be defended easily if only the defenders are smart enough to set up dedicated pilots for active high-alt CAP.

The last time I flew CAP duty with fellow Rooks, it was an inspiring experience. We set the CV south of enemy base about 13 miles. It was a great big furball with very tense action, but I and a few others voluntarily flew high-alt CAP.

The fight went long, very different from how the usual "set CV 5 miles off shore and capture it quick or fail miserably" type of "all-or-nothing" furball goes.. where everybody fights down low for 30 minutes, and then watches helplessly as enemies come in and sink the flat-top.

The CV closed slowly towards the base while we were continuously fighting, knocking out jabo attempts every time. Us at high alt killed down jabos, and those at low dealt with enemy fighters. I myself got about three P-47Ds, three Typhoons and two P-38s in two sorties. Additional kills of 2~3 A-20s, some Lancasters and one B-17. Finally, we trashed the field and kept out CV alive through a three hour fight. The enemy field was captured.

In the end, once the enemy jabos were put down, I found plenty of time to fight in the furball before returning to CV to rearm/replane and start another CAP sortie.

 ..

If everybody's busy down low scratching their bellies against the ground, and are just too good to fly duties actually needed in the area.. then fek 'em. They deserve to lose their CV.
