Anyone been watching this? I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. The blues is my fave music form and this is exposing me to so many different artists. I wish they would focus on regional blues more but I am not complaining about what they have produced. Can anyone really touch the voice and guitar playing of BB King? The sheer genius of Skip James and Robert Johnson? I don't know they guy that did a really odd interpretation of "Dark Was The Night" by Blind Willie Johnson (possibly the most chilling recording EVER made) but Ry Cooder's version from the Paris, Texas movie soundtrack would have been a better representation. Of course, I would like to see more Texas blues artists but I will take what I can get so far.

it's been great, my only complaint is to big of blocks of time. this needs to come out on dvd ASAP so I can watch it at my own pace.

Love the blues. Missed the show

The best blues song of all time is "John the Revelator" by Son House. The a capella version.

Although "Stay and Suffer with Me Baby" by Mr. Hooker is quite good also

Watched the show, enjoyed it. Sad to hear them talk about Beal Street. Ike can play the piano. BB's story about the Filmore was touching.

Dune it's runnig here 9pm-1am, one 4 hour episode per day all week. if your staion is running it in the same time slots it's on right now.

Columbia House has it on DVD, I believe.

Man, that is a huge statement. I can't really say one is the best but the one that always gets me is "It Hurts Me Too" by Elmore James. Eric Clapton's version is excellent too.

Saw the piece on Skip James. Was pretty interesting. My favorites are Leadbelly and Blind lemon Jefferson. It's amazing looking at music of the last 30 years and seeing how many times artists have drawn from Leadbelly's music.

Love the Blues, but I haven't enjoyed the series all that much. Some of it seems choppy, some contrived. Not sure what I expected. I'll give the next installment a look, and see what a different director comes up with.

Anyone picked up the CDs yet? Fantastic! You ain't lived until you've listened to the original recording of Skip James' "Devil Got my Woman." Amazon has the set for $55.
