Fatty,
I can get nose around on N1K's for a snapshot in a Spit, but if the fight slows down to a turning duel then the Spit just can't keep up.  Running is suicide since the N1K will track you down if you are low.  I actually find the SpitV a bit better match than the IX since the V seems to feel like a lighter plane in the air.  I can't out-sustained-turn a N1K though, especially if the alt runs to 0 and you are just forced to make mostly flat turns.

Just my experiences to draw on, but I flew a lot of Spit and ran into a lot of N1K's.  I don't know that the flight models for either have changed in a whole lot of versions.

A SpitV vs N1k in a turnfight is a laugher, Soda.  The SpitV will eat it alive.  Same with the Seafire, even moreso with a6m.

A SpitIX is admittedly closer, but if I'm in the IX I love my chances if he tries turning with me (actually with any situation), I just don't see the N1k's advantage there.  I've yet to see one outturn me sustained.

Spits eat Niki's for lunch, and if they are out turning you, it's you, not the plane.

OK, Leph, I tried the P47 in same test, it fell about 1500 feet short of ALT in ceiling compared to the best tested, and dropped like a brick... but she sure drops nicley!

Disregard the previous comments as well, because I tried a LA7 against the rest. Oh man...

I've eaten a fair share of Spits in my N1K2, light fuel load, pump the flaps, immelmanns.

Course I rarely fly with my eyes open, so these kills are purely luck.

Heheheh.  Well the Jug dives well anyway...

Yep, La7 is a bit of a rocket.

The N1k2 is my most feared adversary when flying the Hellcat though.  That thing out-everything's the HeckKitty in all but diving ability.  With a big advantage I can make one pass max and then it's time to dive and run.  In the Jug the N1k is no problem for me, but in the F6F-5, it's Naaaaasty.  Spits I can handle, but the N1k is just to scary in terms of acceleration.  I still attack them, but I can't knife fight them.  I'll take on about anything in the game with the Hellcat given even the slightest bit of an E advantage... or even a disadvantage if I can turn better than the target.  But the Georges bite me every time.  I'm not saying it's "uber" or anything, it's just good in areas that negate the strengths of the Hellcat.  It's like the La7 is to my Jug, my arch-enemy.

I like to drag bunch of Nikis around the map. Sometimes I cut the throttle so they can come closer and then again full power

BTW same goes with Spits too

"...A pilot such as Tac will engage you. You press your super secret (oops!) UFO Niki button which disables his ability to work his film recorder, allows your Niki to completely defy the laws of gravity, makes flames menacingly shoot out of the Niki's ass, and turns all your bullets into little homing missles that impact with the power of 10 hispano rounds..."

Now THAT's funny!

Totally agreed with your take on the F6F versus the Niki.  I flew the Hellkitty for a tour and any decent pilot in a Niki would tear me apart without a second thought!

That was the tour after I stopped flying the Nik exclusively, so I think that was payback for all the fun I had in it

Regarding your statements on strengths of the Hellcat vs. the George, it's just as a late war really good Japanese fighter should be Leph... they did a damn good job on plane modeling no?

Read "Samurai " and you petition HTC for P39's and Wildcats. Explains alot about the George too..

Good thing they had such a strict pilot program and therefore few pilots or lotsa American pilots would have went boom.
