http://freeserifsoftware.com/products.asphttp://www.serif.com is their pay software site.
Serif has been putting out affordable DTP (DeskTop Publishing) packages for a while (like since 1994!), and part of their approach is to distribute older versions of their software for free.
Pageplus 5 (Desktop publishing) (current version is 8)
Drawplus 4 (vector drawing) (current version is 7)
Photoplus 5.5 (image editing) (current version is 8)
3D Plus 2 (pseudo 3D modelling) - I have tried this one, and the interface is LESS than intuitive for anything more complicated than simple boxes and spheres - renamed ImpactPlus, and it still sucks.
WebPlus 6 (website building) (current version is 8)
These are fully functional versions, including help files, but no templates and a reduced set of "wizards".
I've been using PagePlus as my DTP program since version 3, and I currently use version 8-PDF. I use drawplus as well, though paintshopPro is my primary image editor. Drawplus is great for quick and dirty vector drawing, and it has some pretty powerful tools as well.
I have not used their web-plus, or 3D-plus software. I did try their photo-plus, (bitmap editing) but it had nothing to offer over paintshop pro to make me switch. It was decent, I just didn't have a use for ANOTHER piece of image editing software.
Give 'em a shot. You might like it.

Just beware, you'll have to give them your email addy - but they have never sold mine. They do use it to contact me. And I am sure you would be getting some offers to upgrade inthe mail, but from what I remember of Pageplus 5 and drawplus 4, if you have no other DTP software, its worth it.
BB <-- does not work for serif
