Salem, WV, is a small college town in Central WV. It is home to less than 2,000 people, It consists of three exits on US route 50, and is home of the Salem Industrial home for Youth (Juvenile Prison) and Salem International College. It has a small grocery store, two gas stations, and a Dairy Queen.

It is ran by a City Manager, a Mayor, and 6 city council members.

Recently, the actions of our local government here in Salem has become a scandal to rival any Top-Government story.

I know it sounds like a bore, but please listen. It all started in 1999. After an Election which reminded us all of Decision 2000 due to faulty ballots printed by PDQ (Pretty Darn Quick) Printing, In which a lawsuit is pending Salem City Council vs PDQ, which was followed by counter sue by PDQ. Our mayor was elected, by a whopping 22 votes. Three weeks later he resigned.

City Council and the City Manager, then decided to replace him with the runner-up, Which is Illegal, (There should have been another election). Then after another controversial resignation and 95,000 dollars missing from the City of Salem,Then the City Manager, Mayor, and Town Council, appoint the Mayors Wife as a new member of City Council. Which by the way is totally illegal.

Now, the City of Salem wants to hike the water bills by 40%, which they will use to quote "Annex property out of city limits" and "provide these residents with city water".

Here is where it turns nasty-

There are only 6 houses that live in the area they want to annex, One of them belongs to the Mayor's daughter.

So...

My Grandmother, and a group of local citizens, have banded together to make a resolution to remove the City Manager, The Mayor and his wife, To stop the annex of the new property, and to place the water bill hike on the next election ballot.

This situation is becoming quite grim, from alleged death threats to involvemtent of State police security at council meetings.

As far as I'm concerned it's getting out of hand, and the guilty parties involved need to step down.

Hey Sox, I wasnt born In West Virginia, but my dad was born in Clarksburg, well technically Stonewood. And my mom was born in Salem. I'm living in Salem currently, I love Central West Virginia, Well not as much as I love the Eastern panhandle (Shepherdstown)
