Beyond AH2

I had this dream one night. I know it will be a while before we ever see this in AH, if we see it at all, but I wanted to share it with you guys :

Since the classic arena doesnt have to be historically accurate. I was envisioning an AH with distinguishable countries that the player could identify with. For example, the ORIGINAL (not captured)  bishops buildings could be easily identified from the ORIGINAL knights' and rook's buildings because each country would have unique field layouts and building architecture. Just to add some inmersion each country could have a strong political inclination. Lets say the Knights might support communism, and the bish supported Fascism, while the rooks supported democracy. In addition to that, each country might have noticable strenghts and weaknesses: For example, the bish might have the best AAA, but a long resupply time for all fields. The Rooks might have the weakest AAA, but excellent radar, and the Knites might have a strong navy, but weak radar....etc.  This would only work as long as these strengths and weaknesses are well-balanced between the teams.

AH could have a real-time "economy", where planes that are used most often result in very little ENY and OBJ scores and can even end up costing a some perk points. The least used planes would gain ENY and OBJ points. Each country would also have a limited stock of each kind of plane and that number would appear on the hanger menu for each plane. That number would go down as soon as a player is on the runway; if he comes back, the number goes up again. The amount of planes in stock would go up every day or so depending on the status of the factories. Of course, the number would vary for every plane and it would have to be a reasonable amount. Basically, there would be much less stock of "uber" planes and bombers than there is of regularly used planes. Attacking and defending country objects might begin to have a bigger role if factories could directly influence the amount of planes a country gets.

There are a bunch of other things i dreamt of that I cant remember now...but at least I got most of my main  ideas there.

This is funny you mention this because I thought of something too.  It may be stupid and already mentioned, but I think it would be cool if AH could have custom mods so players could create 'era' planesets and such.

Sort of a half-life kind of thing....

You could have a WWI mod or a Korean Era mod and maybe even have a special arena or event night with the alternative set.

dunno

It sounds as if you are describing Starfleet Command 3.  It has the economy you discuss, the plane (or ship) availability, and the different strengths.

Of course, it is a silly game.

I like the idea.

To have limited access to the most used planes is in theory a good idea but have certain weaknesses that has been discussed in other threads recently. I don't remember where, though. It was suggested as a way to get people to fly other planes than the "big 5". It was pointed out that it may be unacceptable for many people to be denied their favourite ride, this is apparently an issue that has the ability to set many minds on fire

I love the idea to have the countries stand out from eachother and the economy bit. This could work but it will take a lot of thought and work

Thats a good idea I'm only conserned that the Facist side will have no one fighting for it and the democracy side will be cram packed. I'm you mean capitalist by the term 'Democracy' because (I don't mean to moan) democracy isn't regeime it's just a way of descibing countires with elections because you could have a communist democracy...
But good idea I like it

A Socialist Democracy may be possible ... not a Communist one.

But ... back to the original point/post of the thread. If the idea is better immersion, I believe TOD is working towards that end in an "Axis vs Allied" enviroment. Other than that, changing up the MA to be more "WarBirds" like probably isn't a good idea. Nor is giving one side or another an inherent advantage in one area or another that is pretty much arrived at in an arbitrary manner that doesn't even reflect the strengths or weaknesses of the various military organizations and basing it on their "political affiliation."

In my opinion. We all daydream different things for different games, I suppose.

I enjoy a good game of "Axis and Allies" from time to time.

Until anything is added to the mix, I'd say:

Spitfire
Lala
N1K2 "George"
109
Pony

Other opinions may vary but that's the one's I see flyin' about most often. Who knows why they're popular? ShruG *ahem* :rofl
