Too big a difference IMO.

Because longhorn is still in the planning stage?

AH II does use bump mapping ... it will be a settable option from what HT showed us at the con. Don't know enough about it to tell whether he has it switched on or off for this screen shot .

Just in reply to the bump maping that i have started this crazy thread on.

I have found that viewing the screen shots with different monitors give different kinds of effects. For this reason i must say .

That Until aces high 2 comes out, we cannot really judge the screen shots. Because of degraded of quality from the compression utilitys like jpeg as such.

How come AH thinks your geforce 2 (64 megs, right?) is a 128 meg card?

Yeah but show us some pictures in an Main Arena setting with several hundred people on and you flying and not sitting in a tower. Maybe then I would lean towards believing your "proof".

Also why is your OS showing as:

sigh.

I run one machine with dual boot, windows xp and windows long horn installed. so I decided to use the Xp Pro for the benchmark because its more real to life what most people would have. I mainly do some work in longhorn, and i put it down as the OS because i use it now and then. Also to say its a nice os.

Anyway, i can change my chip memory size by going into the bios, its just put onto that setting and i havent changed it because i am lazy.

Finaly for people who say i should dive into 100 cons and stuff. Well firstly, the original post said

Check it out again, for those people who want me around some guys when taking the screen shot here it is.

I see no real point continue this debat about what fps i get really! Does it really matter?

Going onto more important stuff. Basicaly if your computer system cannot get the bandwidth required to your graphics card. You will never use 100% of your graphics card. It will mainly be waiting for your system to send it information or data to it. Now more advanaced cards, actualy take away the work load from the cpu. For example, this is the reason why when upgrading from a geforce 2 to a geforce 3, that you will notice a slight increase in fps. Mainly 2 reasons why. Much better programing in the hardware that allows it to comunicate better with your system as a whole. Also the fact that most new cards will do more processing on the card itself than let the cpu handel it.

I havent started programing Video card with my computer course at Univercity. That is all done down to the assembly level, no higher languages required.

Well its been fun, got to get some sleep.

I had a GeForce2 GTS 32MB card that routinely got me no less than 50-60fps in AH up until I swapped it out for the GF4 Ti440 I have now. That was on an Athlon 700Mhz and my old AMD T-bird 1.4GHz as well.

It doesn't think it's a 128meg.  What looks like is happening is that AH is reserving 64megs of your system RAM and adding it to 'resource' pool of available video RAM.

Well that's amazing. I should just upgrade my ram then and forget about upgrading my video card. :D

Fortunately AH2 isn't going to be as system intensive, at least that's the word on the grapevine (yes, terrible pun intended).  So instead of a complete system upgrade, upgrading your video card might be all that's needed.

Arlo i would recommend holding off from buying anythink until aces high 2 comes out.

When aces high 2 does come out. Take your local computer down to a computer store, and say that your intrested in buying hardware off them. But you need hardware to actualy make the game play good. Show them the game, and the frame rates. Then ask them what equipment may or maynot help in the frame rate department. Normaly i found that computer stores are more than happy to swap ram and video cards in and out of your system, finding the best configuration. It saves you money and also it makes them a profit.

The solution above is the best choice i think. Firstly they will have more understanding of your system than you do and can simply point out what needs to be replaced. If the computer store doesnt want to help you out, take your businesses elsewere. Also, its good to show them the cash that you are expecting to puchase the hardware for. This will also add a bonus to your side, because they wont think your a con man!

Well i used this proccess, but i also knew the people at the computer store, so that was also a bonus.
