Excuse me if I've missed this in previous posts, but how is the icon system being setup in AH?

Will we see friendlies at D60, bad guys at D30 etc....?

Just curious.

I think I remember seeing something about a sector radar (which can be knocked out).  It'll show the # of good guys and booger-eaters in a sector, but nothing about alt, hdg, etc.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Andy

Rkat I'm assuming you're talking about inflight icons not the map.

Icons currently show all non-friendly icons as red icons. Don't know if that will be user-changeable.

The icon then is made up of plane type, a small symbol depicting its actual country and a range icon that is calibrated to show individual yardages eg 584, 583, 582 etc. Makes estimating closure rate much easier.

I think it would be a safe bet that ranges and elevations that icons get displayed would be an arena setting like in WB.

Pirado the beta terrain is over 30,000 square miles.

As your signature so aptly states pirado, seeing the enemy first is a high priority in this game.
This radar does not give you location, but merely indicates the presence of an enemy within a 25 square mile sector. Still a lot of territory to look in :-)

Let me see if I understand this discusson.  There will be ground radar.  The ground radar can be destroyed.  Pilots in the air will not have a visual radar.  Pilots can get directions from persons monitoring the ground radar.  Is there more to this?
