CD-R Burning Error
« on: October 12, 2003, 06:16:11 PM »
I get the below errors, and solutions when trying to burn a cd-r, and it might do it on the 4th, or 5th track written, then dumps the cd-r.  Any suggestions what's happening, and what I need to do?  It's a Plexwriter 16/10/40A with W2k.  Thanks, Thorns

1.) E8004189f:Write error - recovery needed - [03/0C/07]
2.) E80041934: TrackWriter error - Flush Failed - [T7127]
TrackWriter error - flush failed
Problem:
An error occurred while trying to write to the CD-Recorder. After trying again to write to the CD-Recorder without success, Easy CD Creator sent a flush command to the CD-Recorder, but the flush command failed. Most likely this error message is accompanied by another error message that describes the cause of the original problem.
Solution:
·   Try another blank CD.

·   Try another brand of media.

·   Retry.

·   Reinstall Easy CD Creator.

3.)E80041925: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed - [T7118]
TrackWriter error - command retry failed
Problem:
The TrackWriter received an error while trying to write to the CD-Recorder, tried resending the command, and failed again. This error is usually accompanied by additional errors that describe the original error.
Solution:
·   Try another blank CD.

·   Try another brand of media.

·   Review the error message(s) that accompany this one.

·   Check for faulty or disconnected cables between your computer and your CD-Recorder.

·   Check for improper termination of the bus (SCSI only).

·   Restart your computer.

I'll second that, Nero has never let me down.

I have the TDK VeloCD writer and it works great.

I still use the TDK software to rip however.

Check if you have Ultra-DMA enabled.
control panel -> system -> device manager -> IDE ATA (or ATAPI) controllers -> primary (or secondary IDE-channel, depends in what IDE-cable your burner is connected) -> use DMA if possible

(Translated from Finnish Windows but  I believe you'll get the point)

Hmmm... I have been using Roxio for three years on one machine  with a Plextor 16/10/40A under ME and later XP.  Second box with XP and Plextor 40/12/40A using Roxio bout 18 months.  Never made a coaster on either and I burn a lot of discs.  I just use the cheap stacks of TDK media I get at Costco for .03 each.

Nero is a great program though.  I have a copy of that and Plextools.  I just got used to the Roxio interface and was too lazy to learn another since Roxio always worked fine for me.

Thanks all for the replys,

But, it is still getting write error even in Feurio.  Starts to write then on second or third write file getting error.  I too have used Easy CD Creator for about 2 years now, then this.  About a month ago I updated my OS to Win2k.  It shows my hard drive, CD-RW burner, and CD-Rom all as SCSI, which they aren't.  Can't get it to change to a driver without SCSI either.   Give me back "Screendoor 98"  Never had any problems with it...... Got any more suggestions?  DMA is enabled also.

Thanks,
Thorns

I assusme you applied all the lastest Roxio updates applying to WIN 2000.  Also, when I went to XP I had to toss version 4 and buy version5.  I am not sure bout WIN 2000.  I saw version 6 at Costco today.
