Since I sold the GOAT

The kid has called me 3 times.

He seems to have Broken the door handle on the inside driver side door.

He could not find the bright light switch...

He killed the battery by leaving it on accessorie and pulling the keys out...

I feel sorry for him a bit, he knows NOTHING about cars and he jumped in with both feet. I do not mind him calling on stuff, but man I could not imaging what it would have been like learning this stuff without my dad around hehe

Its your duty to tell him "change the grease in the muffler bearing frequently or you'll burn it out".

LOL -

Also, make sure to tell him to put oil on the exhaust manifold to keep them from rusting and well lubricated... :D

That would suck Frenchy, but I am not going to worry about it.

For some reason this car never seemed to grab me like my last GTO. Maybe cause I built that one from the ground up and this one I was just dealing with the other guys ****ups....

you sold a gto to a kid :(  ... bet you got ripped on its value too...

Hell if i ever had the nerve to sell my 66 it would get auctioned off

bidding would start at 35 grand... and i would never sell it to a kid...

Its a family owned RA1 66 coupe, with  the xs block in the garage still. documented as one of the 13 survivors out of the 51 built.

wasn't thinking about wrecking it (although they do pay higher insurance rates, must be for a reason).

but I was thinking more along the lines that if he's called with this many problems already, how many mistakes do you think he's made already that haven't made their damage known?

when I think about kids and cars, I think about the message the wife left on the machine when we where first married "it stopped running and ran out of oil, I'm out of cash, could you pick up a couple quarts and bring them to me?"

or my son with his first car- me "you got your check friday, did you fix that rattle in your car?"
him " ya, haven't heard it at all since I got the new speakers"

I'm guessing its already got door dings from the high school parking lot.  It'll have major body damage within 12 months.

That's too much engine, too much car for a new driver.

I've told my wife that when we have kids, I already know what their first vehicle is going to be: a base model pick-up truck with manual transmission, blah radio, rubber floor mats.  My reasoning is that they can upgrade the radio and such when they get a job, and its ok to ding up a truck or cave in a quarter panel - it'll just enhance the rugged appearance. :)

And since it'll have all that bed space in back, they'll be able to load up all of their stuff when they move out! :p

Me too, Gofaster.  Luckily, though, both of my girls WANT trucks.  The other reason I will have them in trucks, aside from the durability, is the crash survivability and the scary statistic that the more kids are in a vehicle, the more likely it is to be involved in a fatal accident.

Ok Well when I say kid, I mean well, he seems like a kid to me but he is 20.

So no highschool or anything.

This GTO as GTOs go is the slowest one I have ever owned. The motor is nice but the tranny rear end combo make it slow as GTO's go.

I would agree with you guys if it was my last GTO, it was damn fast. Maybe no Laz big block fast, but it would have been a fun race.
